Cougar Highcountry 299 rks
Hi all
My Question to the powers to be
I just pulled the cover off my 2012 Highcountry 299, One job I had was to replace a cable on the main slide
So with it being cold out yet here in Mn .I wanted to run the furnace while fixing cable. When I went to thermostat it was dead along with the water pump switch and the whole holding tank panel. also no bathroom lights. all the rest work , main cabin hall and bedroom. I found a 15 amp fuse bad, so I replaced it and that popped, the remote doesn't work either . Question is where do I even begin to look? I don't mind paying a dealer to do it but I need it in three weeks first trip
Dang it anyway
Thanks all
Bob

I'd start by unplugging the water pump at the pump... then try another fuse if it pops too then unplug the blower on the furnace and repeat one at a time everything that doesn't work.
My bets on the pump

You probably didn't do any damage, but there are two 35 or 40 amp maxi-fuses located in the converter. They are the big green ones that should be between the circuit breakers (for AC) and the fuse panel (for DC). The only purpose of those two big green fuses is to protect the converter from reverse polarity from the battery. If you connected the battery backwards, those fuses are designed to blow to protect everything. It only takes a second to blow them. The battery will not charge unless the fuses are replaced.

On our Cougar, the converter is located behind tbd power distribution panel. The fuses are on the front of the panel.

Everything will still work with those 2 40 amp fuses blown, except the battery doesn't charge and everything runs off of the battery instead of thru the inverter. I know this because I did the same exact thing as you, but I didn't know about the 40 amp fuses until about 3 in the morning when the refrigerator started to alarm because the new battery was dead. Found the fuses when I started looking further because I didn't think the new battery I bought 8 hours earlier to fix the refrigerator alarming then was the problem.
