After Market Extended Warranty Value
I have an aftermarket extended warranty sold by the dealer. Seems it is not worth much.
Had it for two years on my Montana, never needed it till now and having electrical issues. Inverter blown along with the microwave.
Extended warranty folks have found several reasons to not honor the fix.
Advice-don't waste your money on the extended warranty your dealer is trying to sell you.

I think your advice is sound and; as you have unfortunately discovered, there are more exclusions with extended warranties than inclusions.
Perhaps our members might be interested in knowing the reasons why the converter was not covered. I assume you mean the converter and not the inverter. The inverter would be an owner add-on option and I can see why it wouldn't be covered. Appliances, like microwaves, typically have their own 2 year warranties.

Depending on how many years you have left on the warranty. You might be able to cancel it and receive a partial refund.

Converter is correct. Reason given, the cause of the failure was an external connection outside of the trailer. If the generator/then surge suppressor had been installed in the trailer by the factory or dealer, then it would have been covered. The trailer is just past the two year warranty

WFCO has a 2 year warranty on their power center. That's most likely what is in your RV. You may want to contact WFCO and see if they will honor the warranty and send you a new converter. While they probably don't have an "obligation" to honor the warranty, if it's "just barely past the 2 year mark" they may honor it as a "good will gesture"
It may be worth a try.
Good luck,

Extended Warranty and tales of Woe
I see the stories about vehicle extended warranties and I cringe and cry.
I wonder why I put myself through so much agony. Here is a very short summary of my experiences. I will use EW for Extended Warranty.
Let me start off first by saying, that of all the extended warranties I have ever purchased, I have never had one single reimbursed claim. Many submitted, but no claim was ever accepted and paid me any money.
1. 1984 Ford Aerostar, Transmission died, fortunately covered under special program for bad transmissions by Ford-but they didn't provide a loaner vehicle per the EW agreement, because it was a Ford issue. Also, problem with heater control, not covered part.
2. 99 Nissan Maxima, Engine sensor $400 repair, not covered part. Notified Nissan, they said they would pay 1/2 of repair after I complained. Never did.
3. 2003 Nissan Sentra, I bought a 3rd party EW, because they are based on a bumper to bumper plan, and don't exclude specific parts. The company, was Warranty Gold, listed out of Omaha Nebraska, but about 3 months into the deal, they went bankrupt, real company out of Bahamas I think. Fortunately, I had only made 3 of the 12 payments, but had to cancel my credit card so they couldn't continue to bill even though they went bankrupt. They sent threatening letter, that even though they went bankrupt and would not pay for any repairs, I had agreed to the full amount. WHAT??????
4. 2005 Chevrolet Blazer (bought used from new car dealer) - Shortly after we bought it, took it back because of grinding noise when shifted into 4WD. Took it back about 4 times, because they never fixed it. The service department finally said, it's not covered under regular warranty or EW, because it was pre-existing damage. Of course, I since I had bought from this dealership this way, I was livid. I talked to the Sales Manager, and said if it was pre-existing, that was the way they sold it to me and I wanted my money back. He told me to bring it back, and they would fix it. Took it back, problem still existed, and service manager said, "the gears just need to 'break-in'". Sold the POS, and got all my money back on the EW. Clearly, I have have nothing positive to say about this dealer.
From my personal experience, I would say your chances of getting anything repaired under an extended warranty is right next to zero! There might be someone happy with what they got, but I've never hear of anyone personally saying that they have. One thing that really bothers me about the whole deal with EW, is that if you buy it on a new vehicle, it starts the day you buy it, even though you probably have a 5 year, 60,000 mile manufacturer warranty, So, really all your buying is for an additional 20,000 miles or so, but the EW is pro-rated from day one, and I would say the same thing applies to an RV warranty, and your really only getting a 1 year extension on your existing 2 year manufacturers warranty.
Sorry for the long post, but I just don't want anyone else to go through some of the frustration (and expense for nothing) I've had.

I imagine there are folks who have had great experiences with extended warranties, but I'm not one of them. To me buying an extending warranty is very similar to driving down the freeway at 75 mph and throwing the money out the window.

An extended warranty is pretty much just an insurance policy for the item on which it was purchased. I think of it as pretty much the same as a life insurance policy. You buy it betting you'll die so your heirs can collect. To me, (and yes I have life insurance) it's more a "I hope I live to never need this" kind of investment. With my life and my family's security, I can't reasonably say no to life insurance, but as Festus2 recommended, putting the cost of an extended warranty into a savings account to use if needed seems like a much wiser way to "protect an investment" than to "bet the thing will break so I can get something back".
Thinking back on just the last several major purchases since 2010, had I bought warranties on my F150, Springdale, tractor, bass boat, F250 and Cougar, I'd have spent probably $1300 on each, that's $7800 just for the "insurance". I can sure do a lot of repairing for $7800. I'll keep my "piggy bank" healthy, thank you

Extended warranty
I was fortunate. I picked up the warranty on the fiver for $50 when I bought it used from the original owner who had the trailer less than 6 months. He paid the big bucks for it. $50 was worth the transfer fees, but maybe not.
Got the fiver back from the shop today, all good. My trailer insurance actually covered most of the cost less the deductible. Had I known the warranty was not going to cover it, I would have done all myself as it was not a big job.
As to other extended warranty, I had one on my 98 Ranger, 4WD. Paid for itself multiple times over. Still driving the Ranger as my ranch truck!
