Talking Finally, getting back into RV'ing!

Well, we'll finally be back in an RV this weekend, Lord willing.

We had a 2001 Dutchmen Sport Lite hybrid back in 2001. We made the mistake of selling it year later.

Now, about 8 years later, we are going to get back into RV'ing. We've been researching, looking at, researching, going to shows, researching and planing for just over a year now. Did I mention researching? So, this Saturday, we will be picking up our new TT.

It's interesting in that we started out looking / researching inexpensive 5ers, then TT's, then 5ers, then nicer 5ers, the really nice 5ers, then inexpensive Class A's, then back to mid range 5ers, then back to inexpensive 5ers, then back to TT's. It took a year and we watched a lot of good deals go by. We've considered, researched and looked at LOT's of RV's, both new and used. And we finally settled on a (lower) mid range TT for a bargain price.

We'll be picking up a new 2010 Keystone Sprinter 318FLS from Fun Time RV (same place we bought our first RV). It's a 36' (well 35' 11", counts as 36' to us) unit with most of what we want. At least as a starter unit for the next 5 - 8 years. And we got it at a price that I couldn't find any other "discount" dealer that would match. Not even close.

NOTE - this is not our actual unit. I will update it when we get it.

A couple months ago, we stumbled across a deal on a TV, that we couldn't pass up. A 2007 Ford F350 SuperCab 4x4 DRW (auto) diesel with factory Tow Command package in *excellent* condition, for $14999. It has a B&W flipover gooseneck hitch and a factory Class V hitch. (I removed and sold the headache rack and toolbox, because we were looking into getting a 5er)

So far, the truck gets about 15-17 in town and just over 20 on the highway. It's super clean, completely stock and in perfect mechanical condition. It's rated to pull 16,800 (5er or goosneck) and 15,000 (trailer, with weight distribution hitch).

The TT we're getting, a Keystone Sprinter 318FLS, is about 8,300 empty and around 11,800 loaded. We will be getting a 12,000 lb rated weight distribution hitch setup, with anti-sway, so we should be good there.

The plan is to drive up from Kyle (just south of Austin) to Cleburne (just south of Fort Worth) and do a PDI, sign paperwork, hitch up and go to a nearby campground (The RV Ranch) and spend the night. We will use this time to *really* go over it with a fine tooth comb. IF there any issue which need to be resolved by the dealer, we'll drop it back off and pick it back up in a couple weeks. If its minor things we can do, then we'll bring it home.

Then we are planning on spending the last 2 weeks of December in it (at the same RV Ranch) visiting family for Christmas.

So... wish us the best.

Wishing you the best of RVing with your new Sprinter TT. You are right ----- you did get a great deal on your Ford 350 diesel! When you do finally get and hitch it up to your truck - it will look great! A separate bedroom with a king-sized bed? Mmmmmmmm.
Welcome to the forum.
