Odd awning leak
My first thread I have started since joining: While camping this weekend, I discovered my awning is leaking from the point where the fabric slides into the "C" channel. I just verified the leak this evening- poured water into the gutter, no leak. Poured water on the awning fabric just past the gutter and it runs into the "C" channel where the fabric connects (slides in) and then out the bottom of that channel and drips on my slide seal, down the side of the slide and off my fender skirt. Has anyone seen this, and how do I repair this?

It almost sounds like your awning has no slope and the water does not drain out toward the end of the awning. If that is the case, there isn't much you can do except get a different one or get this one set up so it can have a slope so the outer end is lower than where it is attached to the trailer.

Look for a seam in the awning rail. Real common for the factory to use 2 pieces of rail to cut down on waste. If it’s black, a dab of black silicone will seal the seam.

Thanks Chuck. The gutter does have a seam, but it is further down from where it is leaking. I will have to look closer at the actual awning rail to look for a seam. It is not leaking everywhere along the "C" channel where the fabric connects to the rail, just in a few spots over about 3 feet of awning length. It appears to almost be entering the top of the "C" channel from the fabric, running around the awing fabric inside the channel, and out the bottom of the channel below the fabric, in a semi-circular motion.

Gegrad,
Just for clarification: Does your awning fabric roll OVER the awning tube when it's rolled up or does it roll UNDER the awning tube? Some people have pressed their awning switch a bit too long and "inverted" the awning so that it rolls up "backwards".... If yours is doing that, the awning fabric will trap water and it will leak. If, on the other hand, your awning rolls up so that the fabric rolls over the awning tube, then that wouldn't be the problem.... Just throwing it out there since a few people have had the problem.

Just checked to verify- My awning does roll OVER the tube. Thanks for the idea!
