Ml199 awning question

Hello all. Last year we bought this camper. When the awning is retracted, or put away, apparently rain gets in and mildew begins to grow on the awning. Is this a normal occurrence? We always dry our awning before it is put away. Any tips to prevent this? Thanks!

Yes Lisa rain will get in your awning while it is put away. About the only way to keep it from mildew is after it rains is to open it up and let it dry out........

Is your awning rolling up OVER the roller or UNDER it? Rolling over will keep more water out.
