Atwood Fridge Hinge

I have to say whoever designed the hinges for the refrigerator doors should not be. Went camping this weekend and opened the door and it fell into my hand. Luckily I didn't spill my drink. Plastic....really?

After much research the only option to replace the door. Well I came up with a better way. Since it was the outside portion of the plastic hinge socket that broke, I epoxyed it back together and made this bracket to reinforce/take all forces from opening. 1/8" plate made from some scrap. A couple of screws and some paint, almost disappears. All done with grinder, drill press, and hacksaw.

Sure beats buying a new door.Click image for larger version
