Advert's in postings ???

Admin's. Howdy;

Now we get AdChoises in the threads ?????

Everyone that I clicked on this evening had a
AdChoise in the first post of EVERY thread.
Bad enough they're in between the header and the posts.
On top of that I've had to sign in 3 times to get to be able to post this.
It keeps up and ya'll may be posting to each other.

Hank -
I've logged on to the forum several times this evening and have not noticed anything connected with AdChoices in the first post of any new threads. Other than seeing the ads at their usual location - the top and bottom of the page - I've seen nothing unusual.

If you are also having trouble logging in, then you may be having an individual issue. Let us know if this AdChoice problem does not go away and if you continue to experience a problem signing in.

Not a nice way to treat one of our senior members is it?

I also have an ad in the first post on each page, in every thread... have had for awhile now. I thought everyone had them as part of the new format.

KanTC & hankaye --
Hankaye's post was the first in this new thread and I can't see any ads there. Do these ads remain or do they go away after a while?

Interesting,

In Firefox I have just the top ad before posts and the bottom ad after posts.

In Chrome and IE, I have those 2 ads + an additional ad inserted into the first post.

I've used Safari, Chrome and IE and can't find any ads in the first post of any new thread posted today.
It is a puzzle.

I'm using IE 9 and have two ads, one at the top and one at the bottom. I don't recall seeing an ad in any post since we first started this advertising regimen and Courtland was trying different formats. For a couple of days during the startup, there were ads appearing in random posts, but since he turned that off, I've only seen the two.

I have two adds,

One at the top between the site banner and the first post, (Today is for Sprint)

The second is at the bottom after the quick reply box but before the site footer, (Again Sprint)

They have always been there and from the coding appear to be part of the site. If you get pop ups or adds elsewhere I believe you may have some malware. I got one nasty little bugger which was causing pop ups between page navigation as well every site I went to a survey popped up for that site.

I down loaded one of the free Malware tools which looked after removing it. I did a Google search for Free Malware removal tool review and an article came up listing the top 10. I read the article and mad my choice off the editors choice.

If I'm logged in on Fire Fox or IE I do not get the ads. Logged out and as a guest on IE I get them but not on FF. Very interesting. Perhaps another cup of coffee will make them go away.

Festus, in response to your question... I hadn't noticed whether or not the ads were constant - honestly hadn't paid that much attention.

In line with the other replies: I'm using IE. This morning, reading as a guest I see 3 ads... top & bottom of page, and in the 1st post of each thread.
When signed-in, I no longer see the ads in the 1st post. Puzzling indeed.

I'll try more coffee too Hank!!

Howdy All;

This morning all is as it was... ?
I use the IE with win7 .

I do have issues with being logged out while I'm in the process of
writing posts. I recon I get 'timed out' as I don't type at 60 wpm or higher.
also, If I have to stop and re-write something or pause to think of a more
acceptiable word or phrase to use.
I do check to see if I'm still logged in before I mash down on the submit
button. Yet, 9 out of 10 times I'm asked to log in before the post will go
through.....

I don't understand ..... even before I was a mod. I was always logged in and never asked to reenter?????? Maybe it has something to do with your internet settings or provider. Maybe someone else has the solution but it has me stumped. The other Hank, Hank

hank, try clearing all your cookies and cache. Exit out of IE. Then brink it back up and where you log in, check remember me and sign back in. Exit out of IE and see if it is better.

Do the same in Fire Fox, go to edit, then to preferences and find your cookies and click delete, and then delete cache....exit and then log in.

Now did it fix it?

azlee,

I tried to do it your way, and deleted the cooies and the cache, and then I signed out of IE and when I signed back on, it had deleted your instructions so everything was gone, and now I can't find my camper. It was right there before I signed out, but ??? Did you see it go past on it's way to warmer campgrounds?????

Hankaye, be careful doing it azlee's way, you're a fulltimer and if you lose your camper, you and Rascal will be homeless !!!!!

hmmmm, that is interesting. I think you are going to have to put it back on your profile. But did it correct the ads? My instructions are still on the thread and for the life of me, I don't why your profile stuff would be on your computer and not resting on the server in a little area. hmmmmm

There is a setting in vbulletin's Ad Manager that will show ads in the first post, the last post or both. If the template and/or css isn't setup right, you won't see it in all browsers.

Personally I use a host file on my computer that blocks all ads so I don't see advertising anywhere on the internet including in this forum. I have a virtual machine with a new windows installation I use for testing and it does indeed show the first post advertising in IE.
