Sewer odor in the pass through storage

We bought a very slightly used 2018 Cougar 29RLI, out for the first time this past week to find out what works and doesn't work or what is going on with some particular part of the camper. The only real mystery is the sewer odor in the pass through storage. Nothing was seeping out so I'm thinking maybe a bad connection at the vent pipe. Is this a good guess and is there an access panel so I can check connections? Does not make for a good camping experience during August in Florida.

I'd look at the vent stack, the 3" black PVC pipe from the toilet to the tank and if both of them are intact, then I'd suspect the toilet flange gasket. It may be allowing a bit of leakage around the toilet base. If you crawl into the passthrough and look up, you'll see the toilet base at the top of that 3" black pipe. Finally, and hopefully not your issue, the top of the black tank may be split. If so, there are some repair kits available, but to use them properly, you need to remove the black tank from the trailer. If you're going that far, might as well install a new tank rather than risk a repair failure.....
