Oregon?

There seems to be quite a few of us from Oregon on the boards. I've got a spot reserved at River Bend campground, just east of Sweet Home, on Labor Day weekend. There's still 11 or 12 full hookup sites available, if anyone is interested in getting together. I stayed there last summer for a weekend, and it's pretty nice.

Oregon is on my bucket list . I called the state parks last year and talked with a real knowable ranger answered every question and suggestion on the parks that accepts larger rigs. I all ready made reservations for april to big Bend tex. When is the weather best for oregon going south on 101 camping then riding the Harley south on Hyw 1? I Want to camp a few day and go south a few 100 miles camp ride camp ride .

August is the best month. Miniscule likelihood of rain, and temps in the 70s-90s, getting cooler at night. Last summer I stayed at Honeyman State Park in Florence on Labor Day weekend, and it was amazing an absolutely beautiful park. My trailer is 33 feet, I got a 40 or 45 foot space but it just wasn't big enough for my trailer and truck. Next time I go there I will definitely get a 50 foot space.

As beautiful as 101 is, I don't find it too enjoyable to ride my motorcycle on. The wind can be insane and the traffic is nuts.

We spent over a month at various spots along the Oregon coast in August/September 2015. Bandon, Lincoln City, Seaside, just to name a few. One place was prettier than the next! We're going back again this year and will explore more of Washington. We just couldn't bring ourselves to move out of Oregon, so we ran out of time when we reached Washington.

Im thinking Driftwood or Oregon dunes st park would be my starting point. Is there another route I could use nearer to HYW 1 and be comfortable with my rig at 50 ft? Im looking at camping along 101 then riding the bike on Hwy 1 north to south or may be more North into Oregon.

Really depends on what you want to see and do and how long you want to spend on the coast. As a child and with my family we spend many weeks on the coast. I have owned vacation homes on the Long Beach Wa. coast since 2001 and go there now about 1 week a month every month.
I would look at spending time in or near Coos bay. Check out a white water jet boat trip or get a daily fish license, rent a boat etc and catch fresh salmon in the river or ocean. Near Newport is South Beach St park. alot to see there also fishing. Near Astoria the Ft Stevens state park has military history from 1850s to WW2. A museum in Astoria is a great look at ocean and river stuff. Other military forts just into Wa. from Astoria. Again get a daily fish license and get 2 more fresh salmon. The highway really gets grid locked on summer weekends thru each city. Travel thru on week days is much better. Forgot to mention whale watching out of Coos bay or Newport August- Sept or points between from shore or boat. And in Tillamook, the cheese factory and air museum, it is in the biggest wooden structure you may have ever seen.
