Replaced Outdoor Kitchen Counter top

Took 3 days, Monday, I pulled out the refer, cabinets, sink and old counter top.
Tuesday, I installed new counter top, refer, cabinets & sink with a NEW MOEN faucet.
Wednesday, I reglued the delaminated fold down extension, and reinstalled it.

When we bought our new RV at the end of Feb. we had looked at dozens of units many of which an outdoor kitchen, which we liked. As we narrowed things down we ended up making the decision to buy one without it. Having used the trailer for months cooking inside and out (without the outside kitchen) I am beginning to REALLY regret not getting the outside kitchen. We may have to start thinking about a change...........I'm jealous!!

Looks good, nice job. Ours was done last year by the dealer. Love the outdoor kitchen.

Why did you replace the counter top??

I have only camped in mine 1 season last year but I don't think I could go back to a trailer without the outside kitchen.

No heat inside. More room to move around and not be in the way and I can grill and cook on the stove and not have to run in and out.

I don't have the outside kitchen, but I agree. We use a camp chef and have never cooked in our camper. There is just something relaxing about kicking back with a cold one and cooking outside. I even keep all of our cookware in a big Rubbermaid tote. Store it in the basement while traveling, pull it out and place it next to my "outside kitchen" when set-up.

I know I replaced mine because it got wet and over time warped so it was replaced under warranty.

counter top had water damage.

The previous owner had left the refer door ajar to let it thaw, dry out while parked. Not realizing that the refer was still on. The refer ran and thawed for weeks, water leaked all over the formica and particle board making it swell and delaminate. Estimate from dealer was $1050. I saved some money by doing it myself. Plus I cut a good section out of the old top to make a fold down counter extention inside. DW is very pleased!

What kind of camp chef equip do you use? They make all kinds of stuff. The coleman stove I'm using now is not acceptable and I'm looking to get something different.

Cool new faucet

Thanks.
While I was at it, I replaced all three faucets.
Moen Oil rubbed bronze, matching the cabinet hardware.
Again, DW is very pleased.

Did you order a new factory countertop or get something local. I'm seeing a bow in my 2012 and am trying to decide what to do. Thanks

My counter top in my Sprinter 266rbs outside kitchen also had a bow in it. A block of wood was cut to brace and support the underside of the counter and the problem was eliminated .

Cool factory counter top

I ordered the counter top thru the dealer. $73 for the counter top, $173 for shipping and handling.
After I removed the old top, and some hindsight, I realized that I could have removed just the sink, reglued the the laminate and used c clamps and boards to press the top back together.
However, the new counter top looks great, and I cut a piece off the good end and made a counter extension for the inside kitchen. Dear Wife is VERY pleased with my work. Check the photos in my profile. And I could have saved some money by buying a Formica top from Home Depot, but it wouldn't have matched, something that is VERY important to DW.

I just had my outdoor kitchen redone too. The cheap partial board started to de-laminate and was warping due to moisture and getting wet from leaving the door open at the camp site. I hired a local carpenter handyman guy and he redid all the counter tops with marine grade ply board and did a nice job laminating the new wood. He was even able to use the old trim from around the edges. Paid him 500 to do the whole job. He sealed all the edges with a water proofing substance and laminated the bottom side too with some sort of water resistant material... I should be good to go now, and when it gets wet from cooking and dishes, I don't have to worry about it...

Talking sounds great!

Would love to see photos. I thought about doing the outside countertop with plywood, but I never laminated anything before and DW was adament that it match the inside countertop.
I also thought about putting 1x2s together to make a butcher block. Next time, I will.
DW is not the one who uses it.

I went home at lunch time and took a few pics. I still have to put the sink and stove top back, but you can see the wood he used. It is a little thicker too, but he did a really good job reusing the plastic trim. The other col thing I had him do was make supports for the door flap, so I could use it as extra counter space, which is very limited. Only adds a few inches, but it works great...
