Golf cart

We have a very nice golf cart high roof lifted we use around the lake and have taken on our summer beach trips but now we're retired and have our 35 foot high country my husband wants to haul the cart/trailer behind it when we're home in Texas. I don't want to do it but everyone here says it will be fine. I want him to buy a smart trailer but he says ours will do well. I'm really worried about it any advice to soothe my nerves? When we're in Port A we use the cart to go everywhere and it will be nice to have it since we're planning on staying there at least 2 months this spring but towing it behind the truck and fifth wheel really frightens me. Thanks!

FIRST thing to find out is if it's legal to tow another trailer behind your fiver and the maximum total length.

In TX the maximum length for TV and towed trailers is 65' if I recall. Your setup may get close to, or exceed, that limitation.

We have two golf carts! One at our summer RV membership park up North and one in our winter snowbird parking Arizona. Gas up North as there are 22 miles of roads inside the park and electric down South. The 1999 Yamaha G16 got lifted last summer. The 2013 Club Car Precedent has a 4" Rhox A-arm lift on order and larger street tires on the way.

One way to bring along a golf cart is on a swivel wheel trailer. Golf cart can be carry sideways vs fore and aft, keep the rid shorter. However they cost about as much as a new golf cart.

You don't give anyone a chance to answer your question. ALL of the important parts were omitted. You don't say what kind of hitch is on the fifth wheel, what kind of trailer you're hitching to that hitch, how much anything weighs, what kind of fifth wheel receiver you're using, the tow weights of your trailer and the golf cart trailer, the tow vehicle that is being used and how it's set up, the way the golf cart is secured to the trailer, what kind of experience your husband has in towing that kind of rig and what condition the roads between your point of origin and your destination. I'm sure I've failed to list all the contributing factors, but as you can see, there's far too much involved in making the decision to triple tow/double tow (depending on what you want to call it) than to say that you'll be OK based on what limited information you've given.

If it's a legality issue you're concerned about then yes, it is legal to double tow in Texas However, you must have an endorsement on your DL. You must be aware of the length restriction (65' I believe) as well as your weights.

Couple things to think about; #1 with the trailer behind your 5er you'll NEVER be able to back up with the trailer attached, #2 the swivel wheel is able to be backed up, but you'll add considerable length to your tail swing which could pose an issue turning in heavy traffic.
I'm in no way telling you you can't/shouldn't do it, just passing the couple items I'd be concerned with.
