February travels...

Took the 2019 Passport on it's first long-term boondocking trip. It was great! 14 days without a developed campground. Drove 465 miles of highway and 30 miles of dirt the first day to get to the first campsite in Arizona. Trailer pulled great. Grand Cherokee had plenty of power to pull it at highway speeds. It was fun!

We hadn't been in the area for about 10 years, and I had a camp site in mind...only to find it was fenced off when we got there, in the dark, in the rain. The area is still public land open to foot travel, and even to hunting, but had been fenced off to vehicle travel according to the "new" signs posted in the area. Had to improvise. Drove out a side road I'd never been on before, and found a decent site, but found a better site a couple days later and moved there.

The weather had been cooler than it had been when we planned the trip, so we changed our plans a bit and instead of hitting camp sites we planned on, we found campsites lower in elevation where it was warmer.

Our campsites included spots off Chicken Springs Road and Alamo Road south of Yucca, Arizona, then off old Route 66 between Golden Shores and Oatman, Arizona, and then even lower still to Lake Mohave to enjoy the warmest weather we could find.
