Power Awning Dead
My power awning motor (Solera) is dead on my 2017 Cougar 5ver. I replaced the 15 amp fuse but the old fuse was good. I used both the remote and inside switch on the panel. Don't hear a sound when using either device. Just plain dead. I know how to manually take awning up and down but want to fix it myself and not by a dealer. I called Lippert and they informed me there should not be any other fuses/breakers and it could be a loose connection or a bad motor on a 15 month old unit just a little out of warranty. What ideas do you all have to trouble shoot. Thanks

If your applying power to the motor and it works, then you have a wiring issue. How are you manually extending/retracting the awning?

When fully open, there should be a small hole on the end of the awning tube. U can access the 2 pin plug harness. U need a ladder to get up there if course. And a multi meter. And an assistant.
Check for power getting TO the motor itself.

My Dometics included a strap like the old manual style that hold the spring tension while its rolling up, that they said could be used to roll up awning if something failed, assuming that there is a way to manually activate the spring without the motor. I'm sure there's a youtube video out there on it.

Those straps have nothing to do with holding the spring tension. If they are installed, you can take them off and the awning will work the same.

No, I think you misunderstood my comment, didn't mean actually holding spring tension but holding back on the roller so it doesn't slam against the RV. They said if my electric on my power awning quit working, I could install the straps and let it roll up like the manual style pull out awnings. Just not sure how that would work, thought maybe the OP had the same setup.

Sorry didn't catch the fact the OP already knew how to manually roll up awning.

On a Dometic awning, if the motor fails the roller tube won’t move. The only way to retract it is to remove the two Allen head screws on the top of the arm. It releases the roller so it can turn, you still have to manually roll up the fabric, but it usually breaks the wires inside the motor.
OP has a solera and those motors/gearboxes are different. I’ve seen the straps on some electric awnings but they were installed by mistake IMO.
