flat screen mounting

I have a slight issue. The location marked, has 24" studs marked, just not a great area and idea to mount there. Its super thin paneling, What is the best option for this area? Has anyone used toggle bolts to secure a 10lbs tv to the panel?

You should have a backer board in that spot. Push I'm the paneling and see if you don't come into contact with it.

What is backer board? It has a tv mount sticker, but that panel has a TON of give, im 99% sure there is nothing behind that piece of panel.

The backer board is mounted between the studs and is designed to hold the TV up. You attach the mount through the paneling and into the backer board. It is a wider area that replaces a stud. I hope that this is clear.

Use a stud finder to make sure

On mine the dealer even warned that there was no backer board, you need to hit the studs, and that the stickers are not in the exact spot where the stud is. I mounted two, and in both cases the studs were over 3” from any part of the stickers.

I recently installed a TV in the bedroom of the FIL's new trailer, and got a mount kit from Best Buy. It consisted of two horizontal steel rails and two vertical rails that would attach to the back of the TV. The wall did have one of those stickers, but I used a stud finder and located the studs, which of course did not line up with any of the holes in the rails. Easy fix, just drilled new holes in the rails, attached to the wall into the studs with 1 1/4" screws, not the three inch lags screws that came with the kit. Got the TV mounted and everything works as expected. You really need to get to the studs and forget about the sticker.

Yea, I would assume no backer board and go after a stud. Go to monoprice and find a TV mount with a bolt pattern (called VESA pattern) that matches your TV. Monoprice has several models that will work with 1" wide studs in a vertical configuration and don't require that the stud is center in the wall to center the TV.

Use straps to keep the TV compressed against the wall and prevent extension of the tV mount (if you get an arm type) while traveling.

Also, the material for the backer can vary. Some are wood, some are galvanized steel, some are aluminum. Mine was just a plate of aluminum that connected the two studs, roughly 12" high by 24" wide. I was able to somewhat locate it using a good stud finder and some patience. I confirmed the presence of the backer at my drill points by drilling a small hole and I could tell by the drill shavings that I had hit aluminum with each one. I then used 1 1/4" sheet metal screws to attach my mounting bracket. My sticker indicating where the backer board was not very precisely located...it just gave a general area to start looking for the backer.

Got some info for you all that you probably won't like to hear. Our convection/microwave bit the dust last summer and I've not been able to find anything to replace it for under about $475 BEFORE shipping. I kept looking and found a plain microwave with the exact same dimensions ($130) and started taking the old one out. I found the mounting plate was NOT anchored to any studs at all. Instead there were a total of 28 of those weird screws, one in just about every hole in the plate and into that thin panel wall. It did have two bolts through the cabinet above, but the cabinet is probably not mounted any better than the microwave. Keystone really doesn't believe in making things very well.
