Sheesh. Luminex RV Products don't turn up much. Whatever that thing is (model L041128) there is almost no documentation for it, barring a few used units and salvage units. As such, I can't read the manual to tell you what it does.
If you have a volt meter, simply put it on the battery and tell me what the peak voltage is. Leave it on for a few more hours, repeat the process.
Ideally, a converter will have multiple charge modes, like:
13.2 VDC Float, 13.6 VDC Normal, and 14.4 VDC Boost
If it's charging peak and hold over about 13.7 or so - it's going to do what you describe and boil out the battery. Your choices are to manage the charging or replace it...
Changing the input voltage, 120V@20A or 240V@50A - shouldn't make any difference...
