The show in Houston starts on Wed. the 6th. We'll be there Friday and Saturday. Hoping we don't come home with a new toy. [emoji12]

We went to the Houston RV show when it was in the Astrodome (1992) and came home with a new Holiday Rambler 34CBFK. Maybe it's a good thing the Astrodome is no longer there, sure makes it safer for me to pass by on I10 without the pain of all those years of payments

Well, I've already got the payments so I guess at this point it's all about longevity.

The Raleigh show here is the last weekend of February. We might be going with some friends, just for fun.

Well I don't want to leave the kids with all the money so I may as well spend it. I've been told leaving them with it all will only make life more difficult. [emoji23]

While at the Houston RV show this weekend I learned a couple of things.

The first was very interesting, I heard that folks with trailers over 10 years old are having trouble getting into CGs due to the age of their rig. My trailer is a '17 model but, previously to that I used a '99 model and never had an issue. Has anyone experienced this?

The second thing I learned was I don't really need a new trailer. Those price tags did me in! [emoji43]

But, I had so much fun we plan to go to the Austin TX show in a couple of weeks!

There are "rig limitations" at many of the RV resorts. Some don't allow anything but diesel pusher motorhomes, some only self contained travel trailers with fiberglass (smooth) sides (no corrugated aluminum trailers), some have age restrictions, some have size restrictions (nothing less than XX' long), some don't allow dogs, some restrict motorcycles, some won't allow golf carts, some no ATV's, the list goes on and on.

As the demand increases and the supply remains the same, prices and selectivity become more and more restrictive. Fortunately, that concept hasn't moved beyond the private campgrounds. Most public (taxpayer funded) campgrounds likely won't adopt these restrictions. I don't see how they can, given their source of income to support staying open. Private campgrounds on the other hand.......

Interesting, we stay mainly at private CGs and have never heard of such. I guess that what happens when the market is flooded with 500,000 new units a year and many many fewer CGs showing up.

I've probably seen most of those except the first two listed. Anyone know a reason on why the smooth fiberglass vs. corrugated siding would matter?

It is generally assumed (there's that word) that most people like to camp, RV, snow-bird (if I may make that term a verb) and vacation with and around like-minded people. Many of the RV'ers we have in the park would prefer that only those 55 and older, that are retired and keep their sites nice, neat and orderly, etc. be allowed admittance. I think that is where these HOA-type rules come in. My only wish is for owners of barking dogs be …….ah, better not go there.

RV shows are a great opportunity to check out many different manufactures and actually purchase an RV. We looked at many RV dealers in our area prior to the show and had a good idea of the styles and costs. It's a great time to bargain and purchase!

We did see some really good deals but, we're just not ready to take that jump being we've only been in our trailer for about 18 months.

Went to the Houston show and wore myself and the wifes legs out climbing into all those new toys.
We have a 38ft Montana 5th wheel and are looking for something a little lighter and smaller but still a 5th wheel. I was amazed at all the new 5th wheels that are OVER 40 feet. Finding something in 25-30 foot range is almost impossible. I guess if we want to get shorter and lighter we will have to go tow behind.

Yes, there were a lot of bigger units there. There were some pretty good prices on most of them, I had no idea the show prices were so much better. We did enjoy it and we're looking forward to the Austin show next weekend. This weekend we'll be setting our anchor down at Leisure Resort in Fentress.

I see you're from Welcome. I drive through there pretty often.
