Curious about fuse size for slide out.

Just a question to satisfy my curiosity. On my fuse panel there's an empty unused slot that says Kitchen Slide and it says it would use a 15 amp fuse. Are there really slide outs that would use a 15 amp fuse?

My slide out is a small one with just a dinette in it yet it has a 30 amp auto reset breaker protecting it.

Often times, the DC fuse panel 15 amp slot is used to protect the slide relay and there is another 30 amp or 40 amp "resettable DC breaker" that protects the slide motor wiring. So, that 15 amp fuse would "protect the relay that controls the bigger wiring which is protected by a circuit breaker"...

Hopefully, now it's "clear as mud"....

It also may be for an outlet or lamp that is located in that slide ( or was supposed to be) and not the slide motor.

Our slide-out circuit is on a 15 amp fuse.

Thanks, that makes sense. Do those with hydraulic slides perhaps use a control system like this?

No, Hydraulic slides have a "mega breaker" located up front near the hydraulic pump. Typically it's either a 50, 60 or 80 amp DC breaker. Once hydraulic power is developed by the pump, it's a matter of opening/closing valves to control pressure to the rams that extend/retract the slides. There's no "electrical control" on most hydraulic systems. On some "luxury trailers" there are electric solenoids that open/close the hydraulic valves rather than manual control, but I don't think Keystone uses that type of system, at least I haven't seen one in a Keystone RV.

My unit also has a dinette slide not a kitchen slide and it came with the 15 amp fuse but the wire at the fuse is not connected to anything on the other end. Traced the wire as far as I could and it seems to head in the direction of the dinette. My guess is that it is for the theater seat option (usb, cup lights) not actually for the slide.
