Finally pulled the trigger on a new Montana

Well after looking and trying to decide between the Avalanche and the Montana we decided to purchase the Montana. My wife has always wanted a Montana so I'm glad we could make her dream come true.

The wife and I really wanted the 3790RD but the trailer wouldn't fit in the barn length wise without modifying the barn. We ended up going with the 3160RL which will fit in the barn with two feet to spare.

I told the wife I would be more than happy to add a few feet to the barn to accommodate the larger trailer but after owning a longer Mountaineer in the past and having trouble keeping the trailer cool in Texas summers we stuck with the shorter trailer. Also looking at some older state parks 35' is the limit for the trailer length.

We have 3 children ages 9, 13 and 18 which the larger 3190RD would have helped with. However, my oldest is starting college and won't travel with us all of the time. My parents also reminded me how they took my brother and I camping in a pop up and then a 26' travel trailer with no slides with no issues.

I did purchase some fold up futon mattresses to store under our bed if the kids bring friends along. Plus we have the couch that folds into a bed. I like how they are doing the tables with no leg support. This allows us enough room with the chairs moved for two twin futon mattresses.

We are scheduled to take delivery next Tuesday morning. The dealer is installing the washer, dryer, maxxair vent covers, 20K Reese Goose Box and insect screens for the furnace/hot water heater.

Welcome to the forum and to Keystone camping.... Something not yet covered that you'll need to consider is "corrosion control" on the chassis and running gear on your new trailer. Chances are that it was towed from Indiana during the winter, over salt/urea covered roads and the chassis was exposed to those elements. It's also likely the dealership didn't do a really thorough job of cleaning the underside of the trailer, if they even addressed it at all.

So, you might want to spend one of the upcoming "warm winter days" in Texas with a pressure washer/brush and some warm soapy water, under your trailer, getting the rest of the "up north road film" off your trailer.... Trust me when I say that a couple years from now, you'll either appreciate the effort or wish you would have spent the time.
