Cross posting: Bad form?

I am a member of this forum and the Montana User forum because I own a Montana. When I have a question, I feel like it may be bad form to create the same thread on both forums simultaneously. Opinions, admins? I value the incredible wealth of help I receive on both forums, so the LAST thing I want to do is annoy anyone with duplicate posts.

The Montana Owners Forum is a "closed group" and can't be accessed by members of this forum (unless they also join that group). So, anything posted there is not going to be seen here and the majority of the members here won't have access to your questions.

I'd say that there's no problem posting there and here with the same information/comments/questions. It's the only way, in many situations, that you'll get any feedback from this forum membership. Since the two forums aren't associated, you're not "double posting" to this forum's membership.

I don't see anything wrong or inappropriate in what you've been doing.

That’s a relief, thank you! I have been using the internet since the early 80’s so I remember when cross-posting was considered a heinous waste of bandwidth.

The bandwidth shortage is, for the most part, not a big issue any more. But, for simplicity, consolidation and "housekeeping" we do ask that members keep all posts about a specific problem/comment/question in one thread and not "double post" the same comments in multiple threads on this forum. That will help us reduce duplicate responses and certainly make it easier for someone to use the search feature and not get "bogged down" when trying to find answers in the future.
