Load Range Question

Need new tires, 225/75 15 load range E. Our trailer is at an RV park for the next several months, so I have time to shop. While doing so I found several brands, like Carlisle that offer a load range F tire in that size. Previously I did not know a load range F tire was available in that size.
I don't think it's for me? But?
My question is, has anyone ran Load range F tires in that size? If so, how did it work out?
Thanks,
John

First question, what are your rims rated to carry? If the rims can't handle over 80 psi then a F rated tire can only be inflated to an E rating.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought that deep into it yet. I was mostly surprised finding an F rated tire in that size.
Btw, my rims are rated for 80 psi, I don't remember exactly, but it's 2,8xx lbs. Although I had to replace one rim a couple years ago and the new, identical looking rim had
3.1xx lbs stamped on the back?
So, I guess they're not for me. I would think they would give a harsher ride especially since the trailer came with load range D tires to begin with.

The Carlisle CSL16 225 75R15 LRF is rated at 3080lb@95PSI Cost at Discount Tire is $228 each.

The Carlisle Radial Trail HD same size, LRE is rated at 2830@80PSI. Cost at Discount Tire is $135 each.

The CSL is an "all steel radial" while the Radial Trail HD is a "steel belted radial". If your trailer was originally equipped with LRD tires in the same size, they were rated at 2540@65PSI for a total of 10,160 total weight. The same size LRE, rated at 2830@80PSI has a total of 11,320. The CSL16 at 3080 would have a total weight capacity of 12,320.

For me, at $912 for the tires, then add 4 new wheels plus mount/balance, I'm not sure they would provide you with enough "usable advantage" to justify the extra expense over the $540 and use your original rims. That's a very expensive 1000 pound extra, and yes, you're right, on a light trailer with 4400 pound axles, that all steel radial at 95 PSI would very likely give a significantly rougher ride than what you currently experience. So rough, that you may start having "trailer problems" from the rough ride.

The cost, for me, would be a hard pill to swallow for such little benefit that really isn't even necessary. YMMV

No no I am sticking with the load range E tires. It’s obvious the load range F tires are not for me.
I just had not known one could get a load range F in that size.
Btw my front axle is 5200 lbs and the rear is 6000 lbs

I think the LREs will be fine. 2830@80psi, which your wheels are rated for, gives you 11,320lbs. carrying capacity for a 10,600lb. gvwr trailer.

Yup I had just never heard of load range F tires in that size so I was just inquiring about them
I’ll be changing out a set of Goodyear tires. I think I’ll go with Carlisle tires this time. It seems a lot of people like them
Before the Goodyears I had Maxxis tires and liked them but the point was mentioned they don’t speed rate them and they’re harder to find

My trailer came with "D" rated tires as OEM. After checking the wheels (80 psi rated) I replaced with Carlisle "E" rated tires. Now on my second set of Carlile tires without issues. IMO they are a great value for the money.

Axle load capacity will be depicted as GAWR values on the vehicle certification label.

Unless they've been replaced, like my 6k rear axle was. Btw the label says 5080 lbs which makes sense if it's a 5200 lbs axle.

It doesn't make a difference. The maximum safe load for your axles is found on the vehicle certification label.

I think it would help if shared some information. Ford has different TPMS sensors over the years and Keystone has installed many different rims over the model lines over the years. It would help if you shared the year and model name/number of the trailer and the information (manufacturer & model) oof the trailer rims. Once you find out what wheels are on the trailer then I'd recommend reaching out to that manufacturer and asking them if they know if a Ford sensor will fit.

Are you contemplating putting Ford OE sensors inside the trailer tires? I'm not familiar with the Ford TPMS system but will it let you monitor those sensors with the Ford system (10 tires)?

I don't know about the fitment and doubt anyone else could say without a doubt unless they have done it. There are different Ford wheels and different trailer wheels. Might be easier to just pull a wheel off each vehicle and see.

That doesn't reveal the wheel manufacturer or the model of the wheels. "Covid-19" trailers may not have the same parts if the factory was running out of the "normal" parts and they were substituted with whatever they could get.

When I was looking for a matching rim for my spare I took a picture of the rim. Then I did a search on " 15" alloy trailer rims" and found the matching rim. I later confirmed that the mfg name (Sendel) was cast into the back of the rim. I contacted Sendel to find the max psi rating and they confirmed it would handle E rated tires.
