I65 Montgomery Al.to Nashville

Has anyone taken I65 north from Montgomery Al. threw Birmingham Al. and on to Nashville Tn. We have been told it is very rough but those that told us that have not driven it in many years. Looking for insight or alternative routes. Thanks

Still pretty rough these days, especially from Montgomery to Bham. Best option though to get to Nashville

John, KH is on the money. The part of I-65 through the city of Birmingham is as bad as highways get. We drive (tow) it about four times a year and it never gets better. South to Montgomery is fair and north to Nashville is fine.

Was through Birmingham a year ago and it was the roughest road I have ever been on. I honestly thought I was going to blow a tire. Go slower than the speed limit if you go through there.

Road is good into Nashville from the south, but traffic can be a PITA. Seems rougher north of Nashville, but traffic thins out to the usual one semi per 300' of road from there to Indy, usually not as many idiot four wheelers to watch out for.

Birmingham Options

I have driven from St. Louis thru Nashville and Birmingham to Florida panhandle Twice this year. The roads thru Birmingham are the worst I have encountered in many years. Since I am currently in Florida and will be headed north next week I am searching for another option now. Any ideas from the forum? Thanks.
