Also some computer calculations on some vehicles are very optimistic. The only true way to figure mpg is miles from the odometer divided by gallons into the tank.
Some time back there was a fellow parked next to me towing a good sized 5er that I ask about the fuel mileage on his diesel, won't mention the brand he was driving & his comment was "which one of those lying SOBs have you been talking to that claim 12-15 mpg towing & 20-22 mpg unloaded, cause the best I can do is 9-11 towing & 14-17 mpg unloaded!". That second set of numbers are very close to what I've gotten from my last 2 diesels & I'm betting they're about a good honest average for anyone driving a diesel truck regardless of brand.

Big boy with big toys, I did read through your post after you put it on here.
Lots of good information in it. I went up to Cascade lake ID last spring for the first time. We were looking at homes and property. I left the TT in Boise that day, the trip up was nice no traffic slowed us down. On the way down we seen several TV/RV combos and comm. trucks going up with traffic stacked up behind them. Not many places to pass on that climb.
