Keystone 40' Fuzion

Hello All.
My bedroom slide has stopped working. Upon investigating, I found that the wood has rotted where the ram connects to enable the slide to move in and out. Typical particle crap.
My question is: Is there an inexpensive way to have this fixed. I am being quoted between $2500 and $5000 for the job. I suppose I could remove the slide and try it myself but have not done that and it is heavy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kato
