Touch wood I haven't spilled anything yet. On our last night of vacation last fall, we stopped at association island koa. Just an over nighter to rest before the last two hours home. pulled in, dropped the trailer, power hooked up, stabilizers down, water, hooked up hose from dump valve, it was a long stretch to pit, so I hooked into pit with second hoseand as I extended hose I came to the realization I was 10' short.
Pulled it out of pit and left it like that till morning, backed up trailer dumped and left. The fire and Gin and Tonics were the priority.

My first dump established a routine that's embedded in my brain. I pulled the black valve, cause that's the one you dump first right, and the hose came off the connection at the rv. I hadn't seated the bayonet fitting tight. Spilled about 3 gallons before I got it back on. Fortunately I was only about 5 feet from the drain grate and was able to hose it all down and wash off my sneakers before anyone saw it. But that picture has never left my mind.

Good point. I always test for leaks with the shower grey tank, just to make sure. Then I close it and dump the black.

I also added that "last chance" valve to eliminate the dribble when removing the cap. The added advantage is there is a quick emergency shut off if something goes wrong.
