Talking New to RV'ing

Hi, everyone! We are no strangers to camping here in the Rockies, but with 4 kids close together, I got tired of being in charge of restuffing 6 sleeping bags and the monstrous tent every time!!

So, we recently purchased a 2006 F250 (6L diesel), and bought a 2007 Keystone Cougar 314BHS last week.

We brought it home a week ago. Did the obligatory spend-the-night-in-the-driveway and promptly got up and ordered a memory foam mattress from Amazon. LOL!! 2 days ago, we got 2 feet of snow overnight and then another foot by noon. I am lamenting not having an attached ladder, but have mastered getting up there to get the darn thing cleared off.

We're looking forward to some better weather and spending a lot of time together in this fantastic bunkhouse! Owning an RV is already turning into a learning experience.

Congrats and enjoy. I generally leave snow alone but did take a little off this year since we were over 100 inches. Good luck.

Congrats on both purchases! Hope you get to use them soon. Preferably after the memory foam arrives[emoji3]. We purchased a memory foam mattress topper shortly after we go our TT and we are so glad we did!

Have a great time. Our children are long grown, but back then we owned a Shasta with bunks, and it served our family of six for 22 years. Camping is by far one of their favorite memories.

to the forum and congrats on the new "rig". We love the Rockies and spend months there every year but winter time with all the snow is time for us to be back in TX. Good luck on getting out there and making some memories with the new truck and TT.

Thanks, everyone!!

My husband is the engineer type - pretty mechanically inclined. (Me... I get by... ) BUT, he has claimed the truck as his "responsibility" and left the RV learning curve to me... so be prepared for some questions in the 5th wheel section... !! I already learned how to replace a brittle/cracking vent cover, with the assistance of my 11 year old.

Hi, COMom from another Coloradan here! My hubby and I purchased our first (small) trailer about four years ago after tent camping for most of our lives. I can't tell you what a difference it made for us as far as how often we go camping...having a trailer makes things SO much easier!

Enjoy!!
