I just purchased 5 Carlisle HD tires through Walmart, shipped to their store for $77 each. The date codes are the last week of December 2016. They are sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Even with the $25 per tire my dealer is going to charge to mount/balance, I'm still saving about $225 over what the same dealer wanted for the same tires.

I'd be surprised if Carlisle was still producing many, if any RH tires since the HD came out. I put a set of 5 on my Cougar a year ago (235/80/R16 LR E) at $87 each mounted/balanced/installed. Today, I had a set of Saliun 235/85/R16 LR G installed on the new Montana at $714. Your dealer is a lot higher than mine.

Just put Carlisle on my 336 bhs and did a 500 mile trip with them. Great tire! Sold the old ones on Craig's list for 150$. They were in great shape. New guy running the old tires on a utility trailer.

Great idea. I do not like going too far with my other trailer. The old 5er tires might just be my next set of tires for my 8k car/tractor/utility/do all trailer. Need to see if I have the clearance for 16". It has ST225/75R15's now. I do need a little extra height on it so that would be the ticket.

I had a Cougar and ran Carlisle LR F tires at 90# psi. Not suggesting over the wheel supplier, just what I did.

I did not get a definitive answer. Tire dealer felt 95 psi was acceptable, keystone referred me to rim mfg. No reply back from them. I am running 90 psi with the Carlisle Radial Trail HD's. ST235/85R16, LRF, max pressure is 95 psi, speed rated at 75 mph.

Did a 5,000 mile trip this past July to Texas with temps averaging 90 and hitting 100+ degrees. It was only when temps we're in high 90's or higher that tire temps and pressures increased to where I was concerned & I dropped my speed to low 60's. Rest of the trip I maintained 68-70 mph.

Tires did great. The 5th pulled better than the softer OEM tire. More planted and more stable. The upgrade was worth the price.

Wheel/rim limitations are very basic. The very basic size must be approved by the tire manufacturer. The specifications are established by the wheel manufacturer and certified by SAE. Their limitations are 1. Load capacity. 2. PSI limited for the load capacity of the wheel with approved valve stem equal to the task. The rim width must be within the rim size range established by the tire manufacturer.

Bottom line; Replacement tires MUST provide a load capacity via inflation pressure that will equal or exceed the load capacity of the OE tires fitted and inflated by the vehicle manufacturer. Look at any tire manufacturer’s SOPs for replacement tires and you will find a statement that supports that standard. Talk is talk, manufacturer published info is their standard for fitment of their tires.

Tires manufactured "off shore" will often display the acceptable rim size on their sidewalls. See reference below. That's a LRG Westlake tire.
