Looking to Buy

Hi, Looking at several Keystone TT and hoping to get some help from the forum on the different brands. So far I've looked at Premier Ultra Lite by Bullet (29RTPR) and Laredo same size. Any thoughts on quality, reliability, etc.

Welcome to the forum. I am sure that some of our members with lite-weight trailers will be glad to help you. It may help them to know what you will be towing it with. Looking forward to your decision and input to the forum, Hank

Probably need to be more concerned with Payload limits on a 1/2 ton. I'm no where near my max tow capacity...under by 2000 LBS+ but no way the truck could take any more hitch wgt....and it's only my DW and I. We arer at 940 l tongue wgt spec said 755 I believe). Cannot take anymore hitch wgt and stay within payload limits.

BTW...we looked at many Keystone brands and chose the Cougar line. Fit/finish and layout just "fit".

Good luck with your search. This site and the people here were extremely helpful with our search and may questions!

Read your F150 owner's manual and make sure you are VERY clear on your tow weights! We own a Cougar 31SQB and like it. There are a few things we would change if given the chance, but over all it's a good quality product.

Since it appears you are looking to buy your very first RV, take it from me (many lessons learned), take your time, write down what you do and don't like about each and really get to look at them. Don't rush into it. Don't let your dealer push you around. Make the dealer explain everything about towing from the brake controller, hitch, to changing a flat. I thought people were crazy when they said you should tell your dealer you want to dry camp on their lot. I don't think that any more.

If you look at the modifications people are doing to their campers you can get a sense of some of the things you may want to make sure you have in your camper. Like me, I have a nice camper but the bathroom, bunk room, and master bedroom don't have any wall switches for the lights. Never even thought about it but I hate it . My outdoor "kitchen" was never supposed to be used because we didn't buy it for that. Well, turns out, because we really didn't put much effort into what we were getting, the sink has no drain (by design), the fridge is small, and the stove is just okay . If I had known that I would now want to use my outdoor kitchen I would have gotten one that is bigger and has an awning. Mine does not have any "cover" whatsoever so I get wet . Water is not your friend on these lightweight campers. Most stuff is made out of particle type board that will suck up water and expand.

These are just a couple of things. If you want more just keep checking this site for ideas and suggestions. People are very helpful.

***Edit***
Do yourselves a favor and go to one or two big RV shows. They will have many different brands and models there. They expect people to be there to look and not buy so you really don't get pushed around as much either. Sometimes if you do buy at one, you get a better deal. Just don't be afraid to demand what you want and if the dealer won't budge, walk away...it's a sign.

Hi and to the forum. happytrails has given you so great advice. my dw and i would spend hours sitting in and walking around different units. and we would also keep notes. we told the salesman that we were going to do this several times and when we had narrowed it down we would come and get him. we looked at switches water and dump systems how we would move about cook clean relax. what we liked and didn't like about each one. then we looked at weights and ourtruck. then when we found what we liked best we thught about recliners vs chairs and went to the salesman we asked about swaping out the chairs for recliners and he said it could be done. so we ended up with what we wanted. so take your time have fun and i wish you the best of luck on your serch. also remember when you areready to sign the papers do a good pdi (pre delivery inspection) there is a good check list on the forum. also there will be things that are not perfect and will need attention. camping is an adventure, with the right attitude it will be the best times of your life. that's why we do it.

@Snow

Rub it in….Rub it in…..

I know you're just having fun. Despite all that I "complain" about, I do love the camper. I just consider these things lessons learned and things to remember for the next one. Although the next one is either going to be a nice big 5th wheel or a Class A. The kids will be gone and heck, they don't really need an education anyway!
