Chris, I am simply worn out just READING your routine. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this works for you, but I'm not sure if it would be good strategy for the average RV'er. Most full-timers just dump their tanks and then go on with their day. The clear extension is always a good idea.

Maybe you missed the snowbird part. When I RV sits in the same spot of 6 to 7 months the tanks do not get sloshed around on the road. Cheers - Chris

Excellent post, Chris!
But I do need some help getting things wrapped up....
I've been at the dump station for three hours now and can't get past step 11. 
Seriously though, we're not nearly fulltimers or snowbirds but I follow much of what you wrote each time we are headed home. Never thought about a "super flush" or two. (And, yes, we've experienced the dreaded 'pyramid'...)

I'm on Team Jim,
It's an easy thing. Leave all valves closed until dumping. black first, flush, close, grays, close done. Add a pod or two and copious amount of water to black, Voila!

Chris, I need to take a nap after reading your process. 
We have two grey tanks and one black, the Black and shower, vanity stay closed, the Kitchen stays open 100% of the time. This relates to an episode of Murmuts! While we were out, one of dogs jumped up from a chair and turned on the kitchen faucet. Needless to say they flooded the lower part of the 5er!

That is why the huskies are confined to their crates when we have to leave them alone.

Just FYI for newbies, or anyone for that matter, that may be reading, you can leave grey tanks open if you wish, but NEVER EVER under any circumstances leave the black tank open, it's nothing like your house & you will have issues that are not pleasant to resolve.
If you don't put the sag in the drain hose it is possible for gases/fumes to enter the holding tanks & escape through the tank roof vents. As long as the P traps & Hepvo traps on all drains inside are working you should not get odors back inside the rv from the park system.

If you have a septic tank at your home like I do then it goes to your tank just like the camper, not every town has city sewerage.

Have seen the leave the gray open guys make a trap in their flex line to stop the sewer gas.

Have done so for years whether grey valve is left open or not.

Separate Waste Drains
We just purchased a new cougar. It has separate/independent grey and black drains. I am used to just one combined drain.
What is the best hose setup for independent drains? A Y somewhere to the sewer connection?
