Water pump tank empty

How much can water pump take running before it gets burned out with no water in tank? Daughter tried to run faucets etc when fresh tank was empty. I saw switch was on when returning to rv . Will pump even run with no water in tank?

One of the "features" of the flo-jet pump in my trailer is "dry running", not sure for how long... there is no specification for that.

I know it has been run dry at least once and still works.

Put water in the tank and see what happens?

Replacements are cheap, on Amazon and you get free, 1 day delivery with Prime
