Going camping

Well after many years of owning an offshore boat we sold it and are going to try camping.
We will take ownership of our 2014 31RE this coming Saturday.
Lots of great info on this site, been reading for a few weeks, and joined today.

Terry

Welcome aboard, so to speak. I used to have a cabin cruiser and did quite a bit offshore fishing and anchoring off beach islands in the Gulf of Mexico. I do miss it at times but I don't miss the cost of a rented slip/lift ($400/mo. 10 years ago) as well as gas. That was when gas was $1.80/gal with a 120 gallon tank. I imagine gas nearly $5/gal at marinas now.

Now, I thoroughly enjoy the camping lifestyle. It allows me to travel to new places, see things and meet interesting people. In essence, I guess it is alot like boating when staying at different marinas.

I am sure that you will enjoy your new adventures. This site offers alot of great information and insight.

Terry -

to the forum and if you are like any of us who once owned a larger boat, you'll be wondering where all the extra $$$ you now have has suddenly come from. However, every time we pass by a marina, we sometimes wish we still had the boat but it is just a fleeting thought (no pun intended).

Enjoy your new RV and your newly-found wealth.
