All the major RV store areas carry the hose. It has the male for the RV end, similar to automotive air tools, and the grill end matches the threaded part on the end of your one pound tanks.

You will need to remove the regulator that the screw on tank attaches to in order to connect it to the on board gas line.

Actually you can get a male end like the one on your RV outlet and screw it into the female end after you take off the regulator. Then buy a detachable hose of the appropriate length and store when not in use. No winding the hose around the BBQ. Just a thought. I did this.

I've converted several grills and smokers this way. Typically a 1/8" or 1/4" pipe thread male quick connect and an extension hose of appropiate length. Very easy.

Question for y'all! Are the propane quick connects a special type made only for propane/gas use, OR would the quick connects that I use on my air compressors be safe to use? I currently use the Milton "V" quick connects for my compressors and air tool devices, but not sure if they are "rated" for propane use......is there a difference in standards?

xrated, I hope others chime in on your question as well but I recall reading a post on the site previous that stated there was a difference between compressed air and gas fittings.

I’m not an expert by any stretch but I do believe in using the right tool for the job. Quick connect for LP is made for LP and quick connect for compressed air is made for... its not like there is a huge price difference worth taking the chance.

JMHO, YMMV.

I can't tell you what the exact differences between pneumatic and propane QD fittings, but I'd make a guess that it's the machined tolerances. Most pneumatic fittings have a statement on the package that reads, "Not for use with flammable gasses"..... There have been a number of posts on this forum and on other forums stating not to use the air compressor fittings on any propane QD hose or outlet.

Thank you to all that responded.....and let me say this. I had NO intention of trying to use one of my Milton air quick couplers that I have UNLESS they were/are approved for propane gas. And the price difference, whatever it may be is a very small price to pay for my personal safety and the safety of others around me. When it comes to combustible gasses, taking shortcuts is a very good way to wake up DEAD! I'm lucky enough to have survived as long as I have.....I ain't takin' no shortcuts in this matter.

Just like air quick connects, long, short, big & small, not all LP fittings will mate up together either, they need to be matched halves. The larger end that matches the 1lb bottles is universal, but not necessarily the smaller male end on that hose. Hopefully your half on your rv is fairly universal, I wasn't that lucky, had to search LP dealers til I found the correct half.

The QD fittings for propane are definitely different than the ones for air. Just went through this making a hose for my BBQ to connect it to my trailer.

Stiil confused

Ok i went to an rv place and they said i cannot hook to my bbq if it already has a regulator and that propane cannot be double regulated ??? So to remove the regulator and hook direct i would have no contol over the flame adjustment. What i do know about pnumatic, hydraulic and gas fittings is the degree of angle on the chamferred fitting is different so they wont seal for a reason . Please advise how i can get my bbq going

Bob Landry did a very comprehensive post a couple years ago on converting camp stoves and grills to adapt to the RV LPG system. It is a "sticky" at the beginning of the Modifications and Upgrades section of the forum. You can access his posts on the subject here: http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums...ead.php?t=9739

It's some good reading and should answer every question you might have on "how do I????"

Only 2 ways to do it.
Purchase a grill the has a separate regulator from the burner control. Then remove the reg and pipe in your lp connection hose.
Tee into your HP propane prior to your rigs regulator, use an extension hose such as a disposable connection hose. Note, when you disconnect this line there is a shyte ton of propane to depressure.

Okay, I'm a slow typist, great link in prior post.

That's correct, you don't need the regulator on the BBQ since you're going to be connecting to the low pressure propane on the trailer which is already downstream if the regulator on the trailer. You should be able to remove the regulator and connect directly to the control valve to regulate the flame.
