... and the Adventure Begins - in Rhode Island

Hi everybody! My name is Joe and my wife's name is Ro. I am new to camping but my wife is not, though she hasn't camped in a very long time. We just took delivery of a new 2014 Keystone Springdale this past Saturday and had it delivered to a seasonal site in Rhode Island just a short distance from the beaches near the CT state line.

It hasn't even been a week and it's already been an incredible learning (and spending) experience. I'm looking forward to the day when it's just camping and not setting up, organizing, and maintaining things. I suspect that some of you experienced campers are probably ROFL over my last comment.

This trailer is the last piece to our retirement strategy. Actually, it's the last piece to my wife's retirement strategy. I intend to be a telecommuter at least part time as long as people are willing to pay me for what I do and know. Cruise money has to come from someplace.

The plan is that we will spend summers +/- in the trailer in RI and the rest of the year in a nice doublewide that we have in Florida. I guess that will make us "snow birds". This plan should become action around July 2016 when our MA apartment lease expires.

I look forward to learning a lot from past posts and starting new ones with new questions as they arise.

to the forum and to camping. I'm sure your wife will offer suggestions on how you can make things "easier" for you (since she's camped before).

As for your comment, "I'm looking forward to the day when it's just camping and not setting up, organizing, and maintaining things."

If you find that day, please advise the rest of us "where it is"... I've been doing this "RV thing" for over 45 years and I've yet to have a trip that didn't include setting up, organizing and maintaining." LOL

Again, welcome, we're glad to have you join us.

PokerGrumpy,

I know what you mean about all the work that gets put in (and spending). The work/effort doesn't bother me at all, but I sure do look forward to the day when I can put my wallet away for awhile. We have everything we NEED finally, but there sure are a bunch of things that we WANT still.

Enjoy your Springdale and your retirement, whenever that day comes.

Hey there Pokergrumpy, the wife and I have a 'drill' already in place when it's time to head out and pack it in and again to unpack. (Sometime I really miss my kids). Still aways worth it when the chairs come out and the sit'in begins. Here's to you and yours. Welcome to the happiest forum on the web!
