Other recommendations other than good sam?
Since cw and gs are affiliated and if a person wants to cut ties totally what are other choices? And I am guessing for towing services all would have nationwide service?
Thank you.

My insurance company provides a pretty good towing service.

Ford has a 5 year/50k roadside assistance/towing as part of the new vehicle warranty. That and my insurance roadside/towing should cover most of what I can't handle if I breakdown away from home. I cancelled all my "add-on" stuff after doing a cost/benefit on what I was paying and what I was getting. For us, it didn't pay to keep paying for services i never got to use. With a max reimbursement about the cost of the the annual charge, I would have to use the service at least once a year to see a return on my cost. We just don't breakdown that often. YMMV

We have AAA +RV, it provides up to 100 miles of towing for the truck and trailer.
We have had a few breakdowns where it came in really handy, once we were 110 miles from home and we were just charged for a 10 mile tow.
It was pretty cozy for us, 5 + the driver in the cab of that flatbed tow truck, for 110 miles, but it beat being taken to the closest location. I was glad to end up at home with the truck, rather than dealing with getting home and a long distance insurance claim.
The Chevy van we were using for a TV popped the front transmission seal, it caught fire and ended up being a total loss.

The camper was fine, we got the fire put out, before it did much damage, other than wiring under the hood. I had used up the fire extinguisher from the camper and was wondering what next when the upper radiator hose blew and the coolant put the fire out.

May I ask why you are wanting to cut ties? I presently have GS and wonder if there is something I should be aware of to watch out for. thx

Just make sure if you use your insurance it covers your trailer. I have Liberty Mutual and they include towing in the policy but they exclude towing the trailer, even though I have comp and collison on it! So I have GS. But Coachnet is very good and I used them when full-timing. Just got GS because they had a great rate and I think all the services use the same towing companies.

They are sort of tied in with cw. Really do like our service thus far and if not mistaken they tow us, truck and/or 5th wheel, much more than a 100 mile limit. Just sort of covering all our bases here. We are insured through State Farm and State Farm tow service has some limited towing policies...

AAA+, Coachnet, and State Farm. Never used any of them.
My DW would pay $4 for insurance on a $5 hammer.
