Nice looking truck! Certainly looks up to the task.

The politicians allow snow in Ottawa?

Sure....

The trip was about 116 miles each way, along 95 in CT to Foxboro Mass. The truck handles very well, the Cougar weighs about 12,500 ready for camping.

The hemi did fine on the hills, I only saw 4500 rpm's once on one of the steeper hills in RI. It generally ran in the 3500 range, with 2200 on the flats. I ran tow/haul the whole time. Ambient temps were in the mid 60's, oil temp never went above 230 it was mostly 215-220. Coolant temp went between 200-220, Transmission temp was very steady at 168, I saw 170 once. Gas mileage was 9 on the truck, 8.5 actual, at a pretty constant 65mph.

I never felt like I did not have enough power, passed vehicles relatively easily and was always able to maintain the speed limits. Had one "panic stop" in traffic, 45mph to 0 way to quickly but the brakes held, no fading no lock up.

The Cougar itself was rock solid behind me, no sway and no chucking. A very enjoyable trip!

I have a '16 2500 CC 6.4 Hemi w/3.73s 4x4. I set the tranny to 4th gear. Does well, much better than the 5.7. Wondering how much better it would do with 4.10s. I already have the better tranny. I tow crosscountry once a year...

You need to lock out 5th and 6th with a 5er with a dry weight of less than 7,000# and a GVWR of 10,000#?

Russ would that be more than 7000#.
My TT is 8500# loaded and when in tow/haul TV runs in 6th. 6.4 seems happy.

Edit: Sorry I noticed it was a question Russ.

Dry weight is 8122#s. 6spd tranny w/3.73s. Wont run in OD. Can run in tow/haul, 5th, but more times than not it will go into 4th so I lock it out to keep the tranny from shifting. Tranny runs at 172°.

Joe, what speed tranny? Rear gear?

6 speed 3:73 diffs. Tow/haul only changes the shift points as far as I have read on this particular trans.

I believe we have the same tranny. I displayed the gear setting and hit tow/haul and watched it down shift to 5th. So not sure what the deal is, never weighed mine either.

I wonder if a 5er has the nose grabbing more air than a TT. Just seeing what would cause the difference. Plus I'm running aggressive tires...

The 2020 Freightliner Cascadia we got two weeks ago. We were in Wyoming. It will be as bad or worse this week. We're staying southeast!
