Another air conditioner thread

I have 3 air conditioners on my new Fuzion 417. The front and rears ones work great. Problem is the "main" A/C in the living area doesn't get very cold. I do have a background in industrial refrigeration and I know it is undercharged (or possibly overcharged). the air is cool blowing out of it, but not nearly as cold as the other 2 units (checking with the inside cover removed). Do you think it is worth my time to try to get it replaced under warrantee or do you think they will send me away because it does "kinda work"?

If it is "undercharged" as you say, there is no means to add Freon to the system (per the manufacturer) as it is a sealed system. There is a specific series of test results that must be submitted to the manufacturer in order to justify a replacement. The most critical is the compressor amperage tests. They do not rely on "outlet temperature" to determine the state of charge or the functionality of the rooftop system.

If it's not working to your satisfaction and you have checked the damper (insulated divider board) between the hot air return and the cold air delivery system and are satisfied that it is not pulling cold air back into the hot air return and that the ceiling ductwork is not leaking conditioned air into the ceiling, but rather is pushing all that air back into the coach via the vents, then you need to contact your dealership and have them inspect the system. Only then will you know whether they recommend replacement or whether they feel the system is functioning as it should.

Don't try to second guess their answer until you give them the opportunity to determine if the system is functioning as designed.

Good Luck

I spent an hour or so screwing around with the damper board and vents and the holes they barely cut into the aluminum tape covering the holes. I will have to look into the amperage and see what it is actually pulling. I do remember reading about that on here somewhere. I believe all three of mine are 15000 BTU coleman units. does anyone know the upper/lower amperage for these?

I'd get the dealer involved and let them determine what they can or cannot do. That's the first step in getting this to a satisfying conclusion.

Just a note:... all three A/C compressors will not run at the same time... Fans... yes... Compressors... Nope

Yes, I am aware. I just wish I could pick what 2 run! center one always runs and you can choose either front or rear with it.

I would make it a warranty issue. They have to meet certain minimum parameters. The worst that they can say is ..."Live with it"!

If you don't try, you'll never know, and always wonder... What could have been?

Good Luck,

All three units are able to run at the same time. Theres enough power. Whats keeping it from running?

This intrigues me too.

I added a third ac to my TT. When plugged in to 50 amp shore power I run all three in the summertime. All three air conditioners running at the same time draws less than half of the 50 amp service. There is plenty of power available.

This topic has been discussed, do a search on AC. Basically there is a controller (energy management system ) which insures that only two of the three ACS run at on time. Details in a previous post

Yes most of the time these are in motorhomes with washer and dryer where the 50 amps would be pushing it.

That sucks. I would rather manage that myself, so I could cool down my camper when in very hot climates.
