My Generator/Inverter upgrade

Ive been meaning to post this for some time. I installed an Onan 4K LPG generator with an AIMS 4K inverter in my 27SAB right after I purchased it. I was a tight fit but it works great. I have a remote for both units inside. The only thing I have'nt been able to figure out is auto start. With two 12volt deep cycles I can watch about 2 hours of TV with a 20 minute recharge.

I disconnected the converter and added a transfer switch that sees shore and gen. The inverter has a transfer switch that sees AC in. The inverter is also a smart charger. Two 30lb tanks last about a week.

Looks good. Did you do all the work yourself? That looks like the front pass through storage compartment similar to mine. How much did it add to the TW of the trailer?

That's a lot of inverter I'm useing 3 k aims with with remote on off switch . With my 500 watts solar and mppt control with 3 12 volt AGM batteries I very seldom start the 5500 Onan generator except to run the microwave or air conditioners occasionally.

Yes I install it. I was spoiled early. My first trailer a 1993 Jayco had a 2500 gas Onan and a 2500 watt Zantrex inverter built in. When I sold it and bought my Prowler I got this 4K Onan and inverter and installed it. When I bought the cougar I transferred it over.

It was challenging. I had to remover the pass through door to get it to fit. The gen weighs 178 lbs and the inverter weighs 82 lbs. I haven't taken it to a CAT scale yet but plan to soon.

I also installed remotes. There's got to be a way to for a auto gen start.

Very nice looking install, may have gone this route if I knew a gen would fit in that area. My spare tire is in there now till I get an under mount carrier installed. so we would have had room with all of our other stuff that we throw in there.
