Furrion rear view camera

Bought a Furrion FOS48TAPK wireless backup camera to install on our new unit. The camera comes with a12 volt power cord that has a connector for the monitor and camera. This morning went to the truck plugged the cord into the 12v outlet and then the other end into the monitor. When the monitor started to power up I walked away to go fetch the camera. When I returned the monitor had powered off. So I thought the truck probably has to be running. Started the truck and still nothing. Plugged the GPS into the same outlet and it worked fine. Tried the unit in a different vehicle and still nothing. Then tried with both the monitor and camera plugged in and still nothing. Seems odd that it would fire up once and then quit. Any ideas?
Thanks

Is there an inline fuse in the power cord cigarette lighter adapter plug?

Keep in mind that sometimes the fuse is not visible and inside the plug itself. You have to take the plug apart to actually find the fuse.

This is one of many variations.

Thanks for the education. I screwed the tip off, found a fuse, put the meter to it and bam, no continuity. Now off to get a fuse and figure out why it blew. Thanks again folks for the help.

Update
Installed a new fuse and all worked as expected. Not sure why the first one blew. Then me and the little women went and practiced parking. Found the camera to be very helpful and we never yelled at each other. Thanks again folks for the help.

I don’t use the camera that much for backing in. I still prefer to use the mirrors and yelling at the wife However, I do find it very helpful when going down the road seeing the traffic behind me and when they are passing.

I think it helped me the most with determining how far to pull up past the spot and how far to back in. Also think I may end up adjusting the angle for more coverage when driving.

Exact same thing happened to me after first time plugging it in. I bought a supply of replacement fuses to keep in the truck ... just in case.

Just a FYI, I went to the Furrion website for their Backup camera systems and noticed they will be coming out with more models soon, including one that has a 7” screen:

https://www.furrion.com/store/cameras/

I’m hoping they will sell the displays seperately as I would like to replace the 4.3” with the 7” display. That should make it a bit more usable and might keep me from yelling at the wife

Thanks for the info. If they sell that separate I would definitely be interested.

Depends on how it’s wired. Some are powered by the running lights and some are hardwired to the battery. If your running lights are off, try the battery disconnect. If that doesn’t turn it off then it’s wired to the battery at the junction box at the end of the umbilical cord.

While plugged into shore power I made sure exterior and security lights were all off. Blue light on camera still on. Then disconnected battery and light on camera remained on. I am not connected to my truck. Just doesn't make sense to me. I did not unplug shore power and disconnect battery.

It sounds like the power feed for the camera is coming from the trailer battery, and is connected to it at the junction box.

If you follow the 7way plug back to the box, you can locate all the BLACK wires. They will all be connected together. Just start removing one at a time and I bet you’ll find the camera power lead. Then you can just put a weatherproof switch in-line.

What size fuse is it?
Not a bad idea to pick-up a spare or two incase ours blows...

I tried finding replacements locally (at car parts stores, Wal Mart, etc.), without luck. Here's where I got mine from: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Pricey, but necessary.
