Smile Checking in from Charlotte NC

Hello All,

My wife and I just bought a Sprinter 269FWRDLS. We are empty nesters and plan to do a lot of traveling this year. We owned a 30ft TT when our girls were younger but this is our first 5th wheel.

I hope to find plenty of advice as I am getting to know my new rig.

Looking forward to being a part of the Forum.

Jim

Welcome to the forum. You will find this site to be very helpful with any questions you may come up with. Lots of experience here and everyone is more than happy to share it. Spend a few nights in your new rig right in your yard. Crawl under it, on top of it and all around it. Find where the water pump is and how to access it along with the water heater. Get to know the systems. Read your manuals. You need to be handy to do most of any repairs on it yourself if you don't want it to be at he dealer for months at a time for repairs you could do. Warranty work is a different issue. Have fun with it and enjoy your travels.

Totally agree with Ken56! Turn every knob, twist every handle, fill tanks & dump them so you can check for leaks, which drain goes where & valve operations, run furnace/ac while checking each vent for air flow, run fridge/water heater on gas & elec., be sure they installed a good quality battery (if there's 2 boxes check both, should be 2 identical batteries) by checking everything out at home will/might save a lot of headaches while traveling. Also agree if it's something you can fix, do it, you'll probably do a better job cause it's yours, where most times they just want it out the door.

Thank you all for the welcome. Of course, we bought the thing days before all that bitter weather hit! I plan to get in there this week and go through everything. My intentions are to do as many repairs for myself. I thought members of this Forum might be able to lend some advice and just maybe I can do the same for somebody else.

Thanks again for the welcome!
