Travel plans up in the air...again

Daughter and her husband been trying to have a baby for years. They went to a "fertility doc" and now she is expecting. It was expensive. We had them and the son and daughter in law over for dinner and the daughter announced "it's a boy" and showed the sonogram pics. Then the daughter in law said "look at my pics". Oh Jesus, 2 new grandbabies on the way!! One due June 30, the other due July 1.
I think our spring trip is OK but the NASCAR race at Eldora (Ohio) is probably off. We wanted to hang out in the Colorado mountains for a few weeks in July/August and I bet that's a no-go as well.
No problem though, we are thrilled to have more grandkids. The son and DIL have a 16 month boy and we're joking he will be the leader of the pack.

gearhead,

You're about to enter the 2nd "dad/granddad" phase. All those things "you" considered top priority for "you" will now become less and less important. We have progressed through kids and grandkids and I can say the grandkids are going to be as important as the kids.....maybe more so when you get old....er...simply because they are now the new ones to help, to see the light in their eyes as they experience new things as young adults.

Congrats on the coming additions; we've found that our grandkids are probably more fun than the kids.....because they AREN'T ours.....and we don't have to deal with day to day "raisin". It'll be fun - just shower them with love and special things.

And, don't forego the trips to CO. Some of the fondest memories I have in childhood are the early trips to CO with my mom, dad and dad's family. We didn't do it much but I remember those days vividly to this day.

We're pretty excited. We were in our 30's when we had our first. The DW took all kinds of fertility meds. Our daughter is 34. We all thought it wouldn't happen but it's pretty amazing what modern medicine can do.
Yep we are hoping to take them along on some trips.

Congrat's to all of you. The idea of a new baby in the family is not to be duplicated. If you like I can bend your ear for about 2 hours telling y'all of our experience and thrill after adopting two babies.....

Congratulations to you and especially your daughter and hubby. We don't see our 10 very often since none live close but will have a house full in 3-4 weeks.

Congratulations!

We have 11 grandchildren -- five boys, six girls -- with No. 12 due in January.

I had to cancel two trips this past summer, but it was for a far-less exciting event -- Work.

Us pharmacists call that better living through chemicals. Congrats on the new soon grand babies. They are the best. Now I'm on my way to corral our 4 and get them in no bed!

Well I'm going to be a granddad for the first time in Jan...was going to CA afterwards to hang out with her for a week but she wants to be alone with her hubby and daughter for a couple months before everyone starts coming to visit.
