Santa came through Lippert under chassis storage

For Christmas I received an under storage drawer and spare tire holder made by Lippert. Has anyone installed one on their trailer? I was wondering if need to remove the plastic cover underneath? Did you bolt it on? Screw it on or just have it welded on? Any tips on installation would be greatly appreciated since I received no mounting hardware or directions of any kind. I will probably end up contacting Lippert for recommendations.

i wish i had your santa. that looks really handy. how did you end up mounting it? i googled the product and found the "instruction manual" and it looks like they just drilled holes where it was covineint(sp) for the application. too cool tho.

I have not tried to mount the unit yet. I live in Minnesota and the weather is too cold yet so I have it in storage. I will probably wait until spring to install it when the weather warms up and I won't require gloves and a parka. I am anxious to get it installed. I can't wait to get the spare tire off the back bumper and have a place to store the electrical cord.

i showed my wife last night, we don't even have a spare, yet, and i was looking around for a place to stick one. i had her convinced, untill we found a price. that went over like a snowball in hell. i think those little tote's would make an awsome place to stick leveling blocks, right by the wheel. a half dozen on each side would work awsome. i bet i could have that thing mounted in no time flat. a jack with a 2x10 or 2x12 under it and lift it right in place. i would drill it on, so could move it with the next trailer. be sure to use stainless hardware, spend the extra few bucks on it. and i would use nylon nuts so they stay tight. it will get lots of vibration being mounted next the axels. i wouldn't weld them on, if you need to move it for repairs or something.

Good Idea on the stainless and lock nuts... I do have the instructions now and noticed they only show 2 bolts and two screws to hold this on to the frame. I think I may install a few more then indicated. I have a Cougar 326 MKS and wonder if the skirting will need to be cut to accommodate the drawers opening and closing. I don't think it would be a big deal to cut the opening in the skirting and install the black edge trim like they have on the entry way step opening.

i think that would look nice. i wouldn't get crazy putting a whole lot of bolts in. you would be the suprised on the break strength on some of those nuts and bolts. if you go to any FASENAL(sp?) dealer, they can give you the extact specs on every bolt and nut combination you need. we often refer to them for what i do for a living. sometimes the things i am mounting have tremendous tourqe on them and i was very suprised to find out all these years i was exceding the load requirements. which isn't a bad thing, well i am the one that has to drill them in, lol. i install industrial over head doors for a living, BTW. along with many other things.

I am thinking a couple more bolts in the middle of the storage unit if there is something to mount too. The spare tire goes there and I would think it would tend to work on the frame of the storage unit and make it sag in the middle.

if its there, i would probally put them in, but if not, i wouldn't worry about it. i am sure it is designed with that in mind already.
