Proud New Owners 2017 Cougar Xlite 29BHS!
Well, we finally pulled the trigger and took delivery of first ever travel trailer!!! First tow, about 150 miles from Curtis Trailers in Aloha, OR back home to Olympia, WA went very well. No Sway and the truck is working but feels strong.
First mods are going to be to change out the CH751 storage area locks and adding smoke Maxxair II vent covers.
We've got trips planned every other month through the rest of the year and we're really looking forward to all the new adventures. Oh and DW already had a fiver picked out for our next trailer before the ink was dry on the contract for this one [emoji57].

Eddie, congrat's to you and yours on your purchase. Come up with a four year plan, stick with it for two years and then enjoy your new 5th wheel.....somehow that's how these things turn out.

Awesome looking setup. Get out and enjoy it as much as you can. We loved coming up to the Northwest area when our daughter lived in Friday Harbor.

Nice looking Cougar. From all reports you bought from a very good dealer. Enjoy.

Thanks for all the replies!
I don't think we're gonna wait around for spring/summer. We rented a few units to make sure RV camping was a good fit for our family and our first trip was in Leavenworth, WA in mid December when there was plenty of snow and temps down around 16 degrees. I think we'll be camping year round as our roughly 3 months of "good" weather just isn't enough [emoji6]

Congrats on your new rig!! Enjoy
I always thought best way to get into RV's was to rent the different kinds, go on different camping adventures, then pick one that meets your families current needs knowing they they will change.
BUT Never really did it

Funny you say that; if it was up to DW we would have just jumped in without any renting. Our neighbor came home one day with a Winnie Drop and DW took one look and said, "We need to get a travel trailer!" Having never camped in a travel trailer, I suggested that maybe we rent first and DW saw the sense in it. We're happy that we did it because we may have bought too small had we not.
I was out playing with the Ground Control TT and there's definitely a learning curve [emoji51]

It's not too bad. Think I have it figured out. Put the nose of the camper down and hit the button

Well, I think my problem was that I have to park on a slight hill here in my neighborhood and the rear jacks ran out of travel. I tried to remedy that by adding blocks and then the rear jacks picked the trailer wheels up off the ground a couple of inches [emoji51]. Then when I set it to re-hitch it wouldn't automatically retract the rear jacks, not sure why? Gonna mess with it again tomorrow on more level ground.

Congrats, Eddie. working with CW in Tampa to see if we can agree on the "out the door" price. If you don't mind sharing your deal (pm) it may help us a bit. Thank you!

Hi Eric,
I went with the 10k equalizer hitch with 4 point sway control. I thought I might need air bags to deal with back end sag but the equalizer bar level everything perfectly. It was set up by the dealer and as far as I can tell the did a great job!

Eddie,
I am looking at a 2018 Cougar XLite 29BHS. My only hurdle is the back cargo area. I do not want to leave the ability for someone to enter my TT with the twist of a CH751 key. I asked the dealer to come up with a deadbolt or at least an inside latch to ensure our security. I noticed in your post that you had a similiar concern. I was wondering what you did about it?
Any other concerns or ideas for a fellow 29BHS'r?
Thanks - Chris

Re:Back Cargo Lock
Hi Chris,
First of all, we're loving our 29BHS! So I went here --> http://www.rvlocksandmore.com/LocksK...am-Lock-Barrel and replaced the CH751 cam lock with a cam lock to match one of my main doors. I also dis this with my front pass through doors to minimize the # of keys on my keychain. Make sure you get the 1-1/8" cam lock.
Hope that helps!
