Ordered New Impact 312

Hi. After almost 6 years we have sold our dependable Passport 2910BH, and ordered a new Fuzion Impact 312. Our dealer did not have one in stock so we had to order one sight unseen, which I am not used to doing. I notice there are not many Impact 312 owners posting on here but was wondering if there are any problems that have been encountered. We really liked this floor plan but couldn't find much info on it because it's only the third year of production on it. Any input would be appreciated.

You might PM member "ctbruce".....he's got the exact same model. I've got an Impact 303, but floorplans and length are totally different than the 312

From the posts I have read if you want exactly what you see in a rig, "Buy That One". When you order one unseen, you will get whatever they are making at that time. ie type appliances, decor, etc. Some have even noted that the length was different from the one they had seen at the dealer. Sooo do not build a garage until you receive and measure your rig.

Congrats !!

Usually in the brochure somewhere there is a line such as "subject to change without notice". When I ordered mine I knew they were undergoing a floorplan change and I wanted the old floorplan that was still available. The owner wanted the new floorplan on the ones he was ordering. Instead of a $500 deposit he wanted $1000 because he didn't want to be "stuck" with the old floorplan, which was better than the new one according to all of us but him, including his sales people. I agreed with the $1000 because I knew what I wanted, and there was an agreement I would not accept it if it came in with the new floorplan. When it came in the floorplan was right, but they had changed the entire sound system, for the better we finally determined. But there were a few tense moments when pretty much the entire shop was crawling through the rig trying to find the sound system components that should have been there but weren't. It was going to be a make or break deal. I listen to music. If they had left out the 3 TVs I may not have cared, but the stereo was a different story. They finally got their young electronics guy to come in and show us all what was going on with the new soundbar and head unit and subwoofer that we finally found hidden under the steps. After he cranked it up and showed us all how it worked all was good. But you do take your chances when you order. You may not get what you are expecting and depending on the dealer may not have much recourse.

This is exactly why I'm nervous about the purchase. The sales rep warned me about the sudden changes made to the line as assembly occurred. This is the same guy who told us that if we wanted to see that model we would have to look at it online. We like the floor plan. The dealer did not have this model so we had no other option but to order it. Just keeping my fingers crossed. I was just wondering how other 312 owners liked theirs and if they had any problems with it.

Did you look at other dealers around you to see if they had one? The dealer I wanted to buy mine from didn't have any, they kept selling them as fast as they got them. I looked online and found another dealer about 2 hours away and drove up to see it. I'm not sure I'd ever buy one without being "in" it, no matter how much I think I like the floorplan. But that's just me. I knew I wanted it, I just had to "see" it first. It also confirmed that I wanted to buy it from the other dealer that didn't have one. Hope you get what you want and are expecting.

There are no other Impact Dealers close to us. The closest is maybe 150 Miles or more away.

You should contact ctbruce....wait, that's me! Love my 312. Definitely needs the second AC and we had the patio kit installed as well. We like that we can get into the bedroom and bath without opening the slides and the garage is huge. Basically gives 2 separate living areas when our families come along. We have added shelves in the garage and I'm getting ready to hang my kayak on one wall too. The only draw back I have found is that the door window needs a curtain over it. I'm sure I've put on a couple of shows st night. I apologize in advance if you're the one who got the free show. ;-)
Everything has worked very well, no issues, we ordered ours exactly how we wanted it. It was worth it. I hope this helps. There are not a lot of us on here so if I can answer any questions, let me know.

Thanks ctbruce, glad to here you haven't had any problems. We ordered the party deck too. We liked that option. I figured the 12 ft. garage would allow enough room for 2 teenage daughters who are always in each others way. Glad to hear it's huge, there should be plenty of room for DW's golf cart or my Harley. Its wired for the extra A/C so I guess I'll be looking into adding one if one won't keep up. We saw this floor plan in the Jayco Octane at the RV show. There are a few different things about it that sold us on the Impact. Can't wait till it gets here.

Haha, with the beds down there's not a lot of room left, but it still works. Mine are past the "get in each others way" stage and it works great for them. They like having their own space when they are able to come along.

I would get the second AC now. It's easier having them do it then trying to get it up on the roof yourself, and probably won't really save you anything. I had the same thought process when I ordered mine. I wish now I would have gotten the second one installed. Now I have to either pay or deal with it myself. Not sure where you plan on camping, but here there is no way one AC on a rig that size is going to do it. I'm lucky if I can get mine down to 85 in the Summer here.

I totally agree with this, it's just a good/better way to do this. Guaranteed you'll need the 2nd A/C in the summer. Especially if you tow hot and need to cool down when you get there.

I run my AC overnight when it actually can usually catch up, turn the genny on before I head out and keep the AC running while traveling. It still can't keep up. Forget about trying to start cooling down when you get there. Not going to happen. My saving grace is if I shut the door to the garage and keep the garage vent open the garage gets cool while the rest of the trailer is ugh, especially up in the bedroom. If I shut the garage vent it really doesn't help cool the rest of the trailer much.

My mistake was when I bought this one I hardly ever camped in the Summer, so I thought I'd be ok. Then I started camping in the Summer. If I had camped much in the Summer before I would have known I needed the second and would have ordered it that way.

Thanks guys. I will call them tomorrow and see if I can add it to the order. It's supposed to be done by the end of the month so they probably haven't started building it yet. Any idea how much that option is? Naturally it's not on the Keystone Website which leads me to believe that it may vary depending on the dealer.

It's been too long ago to remember. I do remember it was on the order sheet at the bottom section. Do you have that document?

As far as I know, the 312 is built with 50 amp service (no 30 amp option) and all models are constructed, "wired and reinforced for additional air conditioner". So, even if it's not installed at the factory, the dealer can easily add it during his prep for sale. Just contact the dealer and discuss his price for installation. It's probably going to be the same or very close to what the factory charges for the addition.

No need to fret if you can't get the order amended, you can still get the option.

No . They didn't give me anything. We have dealt with this dealer before and know them pretty well. It is a family run dealer not one of the big conglomerates . I will call our salesman tomorrow and ask him. I reminded the DW that we did have issues keeping the old camper cool on several occasions.

Yes It is supposed to be prewired for the second A/C. Thanks. It seems like the second one will be a good idea , and it will be easier to just have it put on before we take possession of it. We are not getting the generator so cooling in transit won't be possible. I do appreciate all of the input from everyone. Thank you all.

I did Call The dealer and had the second A/C added to the order. It's a $590 Charge I was told. I got my order confirmation today dated Feb 14. so I assume that it's going into production. I think this is the document that ctbruce was talking about. Now we just wait until it arrives, probably sometime next month.
