Sorry, new to this 5th wheel no manuals

I have what sounds like a fan running underneath in storage area behind hot water heater with nothing on in the trailer. What could this be?

Re: Sorry, new to this 5th wheel no manuals

Just a guess, but I would say it's the cooling fan on the converter. Unplug the shore power and see if it goes away. If it does then its most likely the converter fan. Normal and nothing to worry about.

You are correct. It was. Next question...inside I have a switch for hot water LP gas, it is turned off. When you plug in to shore power does the hot water heater come on by A/C automatically because it was getting warm. I see a on off switch in the hot water compartment near the drain for the tank, does that turn off A/C power to it?

Re: Sorry, new to this 5th wheel no manuals

The water heater has two options to heat the water. A/C and LP. If you only have the LP switch inside then yes the switch in the lower left corner turns on/off the electrical element. Has nothing to do with the LP switch.

The LP switch inside starts the burner and heats the water with a flame. If your plugged into shore power you can use BOTH at the same time for faster recovery.

Ok so when plugged into shore power and the HW tank has been drained. I need to keep the switch outside in the compartment off so it doesnt burn up?

This is awesome place for info. When loading and unloading my Ranger in the rear garage, do I need hitched up connected to truck to prevent tipping? If I do, I guess storing my Ranger in the trailer is not going to work either?

I don't have that answer, sorry but I bet if the rear stab jacks are down you'll be okay.

Ya but they are not really at the rear. More right behind the rear wheel.

If you get the electric and gas water heater figured out you are more than half way there. Sorry but no help on the Ranger. You could block the rear end to prevent tipping. Just a thought.

The manual for my 326SRX toy hauler states that the trailer should be hitched to the truck when loading or unloading the garage. There is so much pin weight that I believe that statement to be a CYA decision by the legal department. I have loaded my Yamaha 660 Grizzly without the trailer being hitched and have experienced no perceptible movement.

If you want to test the concept, have four people walk up the ramp one at a time. I think you'll find that nothing will happen.

Speaking of manuals... you can download a generic one from the Keystone web site. There are also some helpful videos.

It's a good thing to have around for general questions, and maintenance issues.

Good luck, enjoy the new rig!

Polaris Ranger weighs 1700lbs though.

Re: Sorry, new to this 5th wheel no manuals

Once you're loaded, your weight is pretty much over the axles. While you are loading the weight starts off on the ramp, behind the rig, creating a pretty substantial fulcrum effect.

Given my choice, I would hook up, at least during the loading stage. If I couldn't be hooked up, I would place jack stands or stabilizers of some sort, as far back by the rear ramp as possible. I would also chock both sides of the trailer.

Good luck,

I think the dry weight is closer to 1300#. With you and "stuff" 1700# would be close. Hitch it, load the Ranger and have someone watch truck and pin movement. My thought is that it won't be an issue and that you'll be able to store it in the trailer, as you stated.

My Polaris 900 loads OK without being hitched, FWIW.

Re: Sorry, new to this 5th wheel no manuals

Not only can you get a generic manual on the keystone website which I used and placed in document protectors and in my camper, you can also call Keystone. I too, was without nearly all the manuals when purchasing from my dealer who was clueless and all the items that Dometic and Lippert and others make are in electronic form. I contacted Keystone customer service and in one week, I had a package of all the manuals the camper was configured with in a box come in the mail. Welcome and lots of good people on here eager to help and site loaded with tons of good info.

Here is a copy of the 2016 Keystone generic owner's manual. Maybe it will provide you with some of the answers you're looking for.

I seriously doubt your axles are far enough forward to create an aft CG problem on that 5'er. You will gross out that toy box before CG become an issue. A bumper pull may be more of an issue.

Fishalaska, if you update your profile with more information, you'll get more help. Add your trailer and year along with your tow vehicle and toys. Shoot, add city and state as well. Chances are someone on here has your rig, maybe your set up and quite possibly, may be a neighbor. Enjoy!
