Large Toy Hauler Use Question

My question, for those with the 40 foot plus toy haulers, is where do you use them most of the time? Do you have any issues finding spots large enough for them? We camp at state parks most of the time and my 35 foot Fuzion works out well and fairly easy to maneuver some of the tight spots. We'd love to have more room with 2 kids and two dogs but I don't want a toy hauler I can't use in the places we love to go to the most. I never see the larger toy haulers at the camp sites we visit and the friends I know that have them never do any camping at parks. They use them for motocross races where space isn't much of an issue and that's pretty much all they use them for. We bought ours for the races also but with plans to use it way more than just for motocross. We actually hardly ever use it for races now and mostly state parks.

I see the 35 to 38 foot toy haulers being the most versatile. I'm not too familiar with the non toy hauler 5th wheels but most I see at the campground seem to be in the 35'-38' area and don't have much of an issue.

My wife and I went to the Houston RV show yesterday which was very good I thought, huge selection. They had some huge toy haulers but we were discussing the issues of finding spots to camp. One had both the rear and side patio deck, thing was huge, but unless you had a wide open area I don't see being able to fully use its capability. We left thinking we are pretty happy with what we have and didn't see anything that we thought was worth the money to trade which was a good thing. I like the auto leveling feature and of course the interiors are nicer but my 322 Touring Edition is a nice unit. I couldn't believe most, if any, of the newer units didn't have a dedicated sewer hose storage box. Maybe I missed it but didn't see any.

If I had a family, motocross race team I could see a big toyhauler, but its just me, the DW and the DD (and he's a little guy). I didn't want the weight. 37.5' is long enough, but its still too long for some state parks. We find staying in private parks works the best and very rarely dry camp.

I think the 37 foot range is perfect, enough room for most people but still easy to maneuver in and out of most state parks I've been to. I occasionally see a tandem axle Fuzion with 3 slideouts at our local motocross track. It looks almost identical to my 322, maybe a foot or two longer at most, except it has the extra slideout but don't know which model it is.

We have the 384pk 42ft with the side patio kit and rear patio kit ,we are limited on some campgrounds but the use of the 2 patios out weigh that .The dogs love the use of both deck .

The double patio is nice! The one at the RV show was incredible, quite a set up. I love all the extra room, just wondered how hard they are to get around the state parks. Guess it just requires a little more planning but they sure are nice.

One thing I have noticed while reviewing the specs is that anything over 39' is 2 inches taller than the units under 39', it used to be 6 inches in previous years. I've seen a few roofs damaged by tree branches at State Parks and out in the National Forests.

We have a 42' Raptor toy hauler and love it. You have to do a little home work to find campgrounds with bigger spots but we have not had a problem. We never go to any of the state parks here in Mn because they do not allow atv's in the park and that's the reason we bought a toy hauler. We also have a few spots that we dry camp during the summer and have a blast. Good luck on whatever you decide.

For me its the height

We have a 42’ 381 Fuzion the length doesn’t bother me but the height does. I am constantly watching for stuff that will drag the roof. We took it to Myrtle Beach and stayed at Pirate Land and had no Issues. except on Interstate 95 near Richmond Va I went under one of the bridges and broke the ball off my radio antenna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is how close it was to the roof. I now put the antenna down before towing. After we get it there we really like it.

We went with the new 325 Fuzion model so we would be under the 40 foot mark. We also love to frequent the state parks and most will not accommodate 40+ feet. For us the huge haulers are cool but we played the sensible card and went with what is practical. Six key components had to be met with what we were looking for in our toy hauler. 1. Less than 40 feet in length.....2. King size bed in master suite.....3. Auto level.....4. Full size shower...corner showers were not an option.....5. Large 4 door refrigerator....6. Queen beds in the garage and if possible a loft.

To our delight the 325 Fuzion was a perfect fit. We were really set on a Voltage 3605 with the half bath in the rear but price point with the auto level option was extremely high and they do not offer a king bed in the master suite.

Take your time in searching for the perfect fit. Be meticulous in comparison shopping and when you are ready to purchase stay as close to home as possible.....You may need warranty and service performed if you are unable or willing to do it your self.

The Fuzion 325 would be at the top of my list. I was hoping they'd have one at the RV show but they didn't. I talked to a sales guy who said they had one at their local store. My wife and I are going to look at it sometime in the next week or two. I've been looking at it online and noticed it had pretty much everything we wanted except the rear bathroom but otherwise was about perfect. It seems you have to get up around 40 feet to have the rear bathroom which is nice but not a must for us. The flexibility of where we can go is more important to us. Right now we are just looking around to see what's out there but the Fuzion 325 really caught eye.

We have a raptor toy hauler 39.7 foot 18000 gvw. We are limited where to go to most rv park in southern califorina. So we dry camp in the desert a lot with other big rigs. I can't imagine towing something bigger with f350 6.4 turbo diesel. I,am maxed out in truck size.

I have the cougar 325srx- works great as a toy hauler for racing dirt bikes and when we roll out a rug in the garage- add a futon it great for family camping with 6 people.(have done 8)
I picked the 325srx because of it light weigh in the toy hauler world. at 9500 lbs- I did not have to upgrade my 250 truck. (but it is maxed out)

At 36 feet it can be tight, but its manageable. But when traveling around new england some low bridges got my heart racing.

We bought our toyhauler to use the garage as a separate bedroom. The two queensize bunkbeds work well for my daughter, son-in-law and their two children. With the bunks up, we have dining seating for 6 or 7. The living area is large enough for all of us to be comfortable during inclimate weather. The garage works well for bike and tool storage during travel. Getting into large campsites takes extra time and planning, but not a problem. We now have 257 nights and 20,000 miles on our toyhauler.

We have the carbon 357 which is 38'11. LOVE IT! We used to have a 30' TT and yea, there are 2 places we used to go that we can no longer fit, but every where else we fit. Have taken it out 4 times already and we are so glad we got the rear head. When we are in Black rock we only use the garage side door to enter the rig... Helps keep the sand out of the main area. It is also for our to boys to use... We have only been to 1 place that has hookups, but mostly we are trying to find spots that are off grid and we can take advantage of the 106 gallon tank and generator to do some ridding.

I don't think I'll ever want to get a longer rig though. It is 38'11 on the books from the pin to the rear, but the cap to rear is 40'9

Toy Haulers

Be really careful if you are thinking about going into a lot of state parks. With any toy hauler over 40' you will need a 14' height clearance. If you don't see semi's going in or out look up! I have a Raptor 365 and have had to divert off at least one interstate several times due to low clearance heights.

I guess we don't qualify as large toy haulers. We just bought-haven't taken delivery yet, on an Impact 311. Just a tad over 35 feet long. But it is just my wife and I, and our Ultra Limited in the garage. Occasionally, we will have friends along as well with their bike. Cannot wait for Summer to get here now! We love to camp in County Parks all over WI. I will need to do some scouting to be sure not to grab a site with low hanging branches.

Blueknight, let Brenda and I recommend Southworth Memorial Park, about two miles southeast of Chetek, Wisconsin. It is part of the Barron County park system and located right by the famous "Chain of lakes" region. Chetek has a great bakery, and more bar/gilles than you could sample in a month.

I bought the 384PK as it had the 14' garage. Everyone needs to take their airplane and sport bike!

Thanks! Trikes rock. This one has an 85 mph cruise, 350 mile range two up.
Sorry my pics are rotated 90 degrees...not sure what happened there.
