The only problem we have had is when we first got our unit there would not raise. Had to put hand crank in and push button then it was OK. I found 2 grease fitting on each leg. Greased then andall has been ok for over a year now.

How much grease did you pump into the grease fitting?

Smile Landing Gear Fuse

I have a 327res and when retracting the landing gear once it is up and you bump the switch one more time to double check the fuse will blow. So I carry lots of extra fuses.

Chuck,

Just a suggestion. I made a mark on the landing gear at the full up position, so I know when it is about to be all the way up. I don't think it needs to be fully retracted anyway. Never blown a fuse. JM2c

One of my Lippert landing gear legs failed while I was raising the trailer. Fortunately the other leg held the whole weight and I wasn't killed.

While this happened during my first year of ownership and it likely would have been covered under warranty, I did not want to deal with the phenomenal inconvenience of a repair shop. And I certainly didn't want another Lippert landing gear!

So I bought a new Atwood and replaced both legs myself, in the middle of the Kaibab National Forest, for about $400---the only major expense my rig has cost me in almost three years of fulltiming. The Atwood was a drop-in replacement and worked just fine with the original Lippert motor.

Just found and greased my Lippert landing gear and wow does it ever work a lot easier. Crazy thing that neither the selling dealer (Blue Dog) or the manufacturer say anything about greasing it. Thanks forum !!

On my front landing jacks, there are no zirks for greasing/lubricating. When I saw mine being taken apart and reassembled, the high pressure grease was put in by hand through the top. There is a removable cap on the top of each leg and I am assuming this is how you lubricate it since there are no grease nipples to be found anywhere on the leg.

I went online and looked at the schematic and didn't see any signs of a grease nipple.

Found the grease nipples on mine for the first time today.....top front of the jacks. Very difficult to see, and oddly enough, they were painted over and never used. Now they have grease in them.

On our Avalanche there are 2 fitting on each leg. Mine face aft, toward basement. Mine are toward the upper end approx even with the motor. I use a one hand grease gun and pump about 4-5 pumps in them.

I just went and inspected my landing gear and like Festus, I do not have any grease fittings. I DID find a loose bolt that attaches the motor to the gearbox. I think I will take off the motor and gearbox, pop the top to the landing strut to add grease. It is going to be a chore to do the other side as I have an Onan generator on that side of the front storage bay. But I think I can reach it, I have long arms.

The crazy thing is I called my local dealer for a replacement and the cost was $274 for one side plus shipping and tax. For a little bit more I can replace the whole think. I am looking at the Bulldog system and have found them online for about $600.

I have a 2010 Keystone Cougar 276RLS. I have replace the landing gear motor twice. The last time I used a larger motor, and it sounds smooth and moves faster.

Anyone had problems with the deals?

I found two on each side up fairly high on the front side (forward) and hard to see as they were all painted black. I scraped off the paint so I can see them now.

Lippert Landing Gear Trouble

I think I have had more than my fair share of troubles. First to go was the good ole fuse problem, fixed that. Then the gear box went, fixed that. Just this week the bolt that hold the bar that links the two legs together sheared off, fixed that one with a grade 3 bolt. Other than that, the things work wonderfully.
