2018 Cougar Half Ton Front Storage Door Damage

Someone backed into my Cougar Half Ton and damaged the the front storage compartment door. Anyone know if this can be repaired? It may be easier to order a new door. Anyone know where I can order a replacement door?

Thanks!

Trying to find a replacement door myself for a delamination issue. Trekwood RV Parts has mine listed online. They are located in Elkhart.

Being an ‘18 you have a couple of options. Have the dealer order it and pay his mark up or use trekwood and replace it yourself.

Repair is usually to replace. There should be a sticker on the inside of the door that will give you the dimensions and probably a part number.

Replacement is straight forward, remove the screws in the frame, pull old door off. Clean sealant, apply new butyl tape to door frame. Put screws back in.

Just received the new door from Trekwood. What sealant do you recommend for sealing around the cargo door to the fiberglass wall? The original is something that was clear.

Uh, no. They use butyl caulk or butyl putty tape for most vertical applications. Silicone is not useful here. It pulls away over time and leaves a residue that is nearly impossible to remove and nothing will adhere to it.

Butyl tape is used behind the flange, and YES it’s very common to see clear silicone across the top and sides. Some manufacturers use “proseal” it’s like silicone but never really “sets”.

It appears (from what I found at Trekwood website) that Keystone uses Tremco (TremPro) 645 which is listed as a silicone sealant / adhesive. Can anyone confirm this is the correct one I should use? Or should I use butyl caulk? (Also going to use butyl tape on back of door BTW).

Wow- Never realized it would be so hard to figure this one out. So much information on the internet and no clear answers!

Thanks for your help!
