Tonneau Cover Retractable that will work with Hitch

Hi,

I am looking to get a retractable tonneau cover that will work with my Chevy 3500 Short bed and 5th Wheel Hitch.

I have heard that sometimes there is not enough room for hitch (mine is Curtis Slider) and the area need for the roll up. Anybody using one without problems?

I am not talking about the height of the hitch. Just the room you need for the roller box behind window and hitch.

I have a roll up on my chevy Truxedo low pro - life time warrany. Roll it up when I tow and unroll when not towing.

I've got a BAK Industries RollBAK on my 2016 Ram and it fits fine over my B&W Companion non-slider (although vertical clearance is tight). I have no issues with the roll-up canister causing clearance issues, however my pin box can get very close to the side rails, especially on uneven ground. The side rails effectively make the box about 6" narrower overall. Still, I haven't had any issues with my setup.

I almost exclusively have used Pace Edwards Jackrabbit with the explorer series rails. In fact used them on my last 3 trucks. Works great with the hitch. Very disappointed in the cheap vinyl they used on this last run, so no more vinyl for me.

I have a Gator Trax MX on my 2016 GMC Denali 3500 with my CURT Q25 hitch. I have no problems with closing cover with hitch installed and the cover will latch closed anywhere along the travel track. I only lose about 7 inches at the back of cab for box for tonneau to roll up.

Forgot to mention that the cover withstands cold and snow well - at one time in the winter we had received 2 1/2 feet of snow and there were no issues with the cover. Just clear the snow off and good to go.

I've used the Truxedo Lo Pro on my last two trucks. On my previous F150 short bed, my dealer said they would have to remove it to install the hitch. I told them that they would not and they said "we'll see." After, they told me that I was correct and the bed cover was no problem unlike others they had encountered.

I've been tossing around the idea of a retractable bed cover. I prefer the type that locks in place in 1' intervals. My plan is to find the spot just past the 5th hitch between the cab and hitch and make a partition thats semi permanent to have an enclosed type box. That way i could put things in there that I want outta sight outta mind. It won't be theft proof but at least it's somewhat concealed. Peace of mind when leaving the truck in a parking lot while on the road. Once unhooked the cover can be rolled back to the tailgate for security.

We have the Retrax toneau with aluminum panels. Supports about 300 pounds anywhere on cover. Locks anywhere from fully open to fully closed. We have Duplex autoglide 5th wheel hitch. Panels roll into a box behind cab like a rolltop desk. Rain drains through bed onto ground.

I have a factory folding cover works good. It's a hard cover and fold pretty easy

I have a BAK industries 4 panel hard top Flip on my F150 with lots of clearance.

We also have a retrax pro very solid unit works well. Only problem in the winter sometimes freezes to the tailgate. I usually silicone the flap and leave it very slightly open.

My Truxedo rolls right over the hitch with a couple inches to spare. It's a soft type and offers really no security other than getting things in the bed completely out of sight. I've been running a similar cover on various trucks for the last 12+ years with zero issues of theft or vandalism. I think it really proves the old saying that thieves won't break in for something unless they can see it. I'm sure there are exceptions but getting stuff out of view will cut down on problems.

I love my fold a cover G4 elite. I don't gave have a fifth wheel but they advertise they great for fifth wheels set ups.

I just ordered one of these. Looks like a good solution for about $700.00, factory direct. I had a Retrax on my last long bed truck, but didn't want to lose the "Canister" space on my new short bed, and this hard cover can be removed in 30 seconds with no tools for use of the full bed.
