New Sprinter owner with Qs.

Hola fellow Keystone pullers. I purchased a new Sprinter 3551fwmls a couple of weeks ago. Also picked up a new tow rig, 2018 F350 Lariat Dually with the 6.7 Powerstroke. This is our first 5er. Went on our first break in trip this weekend. Had a blast! A few small minor issues for the dealer to look at, but I have a few questions about this trip.
1- both grey tanks leaked as soon as I took off the end cap...about 1-2 gals. Pretty sure this was just left open from the dealer and some residual fluid got past the valve. When I took delivery I noticed the valves were open and shut them at that time.
2-hot water worked when using gas, but not electric. Get luke warm water out of hot side only. I actually tried only electric the first day. Water was city water with tank bypass closed. The little red switch outside in hwh panel was on. Tried to reset with the 2 rubber covered switches, but didn't feel any real switch detent behind so not sure if it worked. I did not check behind the hwh to look for valve position. I assume that if it works on gas, the valves are correct. Hot water switch inside rv was on also. I am guessing a bad element or something. Warranty.
3- many doors and cabinets need a bit of adjusting.
4- inside tv gets planty of channels without a cable, but the outside zero. Tried auto scan and nothing. I am betting a cable is disconnected behind the wall?! Makes no sense that 1 gets 20 and the other none. Yes, amp switch was on in bedroom too. Even tried hooking cable from tv into the "other" spot on wall..1 is cable, 1 satellite I believe.

That was pretty much it. Overall a great weekend. Gonna keep researching about this hwh is my main concern. Hate to burn propane when not needed.

Couple of observations...
1- temp was typical FL day, about 95 during the day. Dual ac's did spectacular (15 and 13.5). Brought cabin down to about 75 in no more than 2 hours. Hell, it was 80 in about 45 mins! Turned off bedroom unit at night.
2- king size oem bed was waaay better than I have been reading about. Granted, I am recovering from back surgey and prefer a firm mattress for a while.
3- this thing has more storage than my house! Absolutely insane amount of storage, above and below.
4- a 3fiddy with the TD is the mack daddy of TVs! Hardly knew it was there...unless I tried to turn of course! Turning is a LOT different than bumper pulls that I am used to.
5- wife is still giddy about this thing! Already booked another weekend for next month. Oh, dog is in love too!

Loaded on our first trip, with full 81 gal fresh water tank, I stopped on a CAT scale to check weight. Did a full weigh of TV and 5er. Then a re weigh wih just the truck. Looks like the truck sits at 8920 with a full tank (48gal), wife (120) dog and bag (100) and hitch (200)---~8100 lb. trailer and truck was 21080. Minus truck (8920) is 12,100. My question is the axel weights. I specifically asked the weigher hiw to weigh each axel. She said to make sure the truck is one one scale, the forward axel on the second, and rear axel on the last...split the axels on two diff scales. Looks like it was correct, but hopefully my axel weights are not correct?! I cant make heads or tails of the receipt. Did I do it wrong?
Just wanted to drop in and say hello, and a big thank you for already helping immensely with pre-camping questions.
We are in the Orlando area fwiw.
Troy

Sorry about the crooked pics. I am the worlds most untechie person and have no idea how to change them, or how to upload mutiple in the same post! Lol

Been researching tires. I have brand new (obviously!) Trailer king RST st235/80r16 tires. I dont wanna waste cash, but dont want to be stranded after a blow out in the middle of nowhere either with thousands in damages. Sounds like the consensus is to replace these asap?! What is a good go to that is not terribley pricey? More importantly, what load range do I require for my 14k max load 5er? Just stop into a tire kingdome or any tire store, or pull them all off and take them in seperately?
Thanks,
Troy

Troy, I just looked out the front door and I can STILL see that smile on your face all the way from here! Congrat's on your new rig! I would run, not walk, to Walmart and buy a new set of Carlisle tires for that RV. I believe they are still in your price range ($68) and beat those China bombs that came on your rig all to pieces. (You might keep in mind that this is only my opinion, not based on scientific evidence) On second thought, does $9000 damage on our Raptor count as scientific evidence? We went with Sailun after our blowouts, but the Carlisles have great reviews.
And welcome to the forum from the Memphis area!

Congratulations!
Carlisle are good bargains.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
I was looking at the Goodyear Endurance rated at E1. Are the carlisles better? Rather spend a bit more for a better quallity tire...within reason of course!
Yep, that switch was on. Saw many options to look for reading this forum to no avail.
I will keep searching tho.

The outside switch is upside down, so be sure it's on. And the inside switch also has to be on as well.

Carlisle are great tires. Hard to go wrong. About $67 each at WM.

Welcome to the forum!

I have the Goodyear Endurance and love them; have about 3000 miles on them so far. Check the date code on the OEM tries, I wouldn't push them past 3 years.

Ordered the Sailun s637s. Also ordered a wireless Tpms, a Bellacorp unit. It had great reviews.
As for the WH, pretty sure its a bad element. Need to get some warranty work done and will add that to the list... not a big deal.
Thanks for all the kind words, and help.

Troy, from what I can tell you made 1 critical error in your weights. I'd suggest you edit this post by removing 30 lbs from the "wife" and add it to the "dog". Believe me, the dogs won't be upset by this.

Whelp. Bought the Sailuns a size taller to help lift the rear a bit since this damn truck is so tall! Went with 235/85r16. Almost 1 inch taller. Had to trim the plastic wheel well areas just a bit to make sure they do not rub. Also got metal stems.
Very happy with them so far. They are very sturdy and look more like a semi tire than a baby trailer tire. Time will tell of course.
Will install my new tpms tomorrow getting ready for our second outting this weekend!
Store set the pressures right at 110psi. I had to go check the manual for torque settings for the wheels. Wow, 150 in lbs! Had to break out the big boy TQ wrench! Seems a bit high, but that is what the Keystone manual says.
Thanks for the input guys.

"Wow, 150 in lbs!"

I'm sure this was a typo. Glad you got things set up with the new tires.

Fly...got a pretty good chuckle outta that!
Sour... Hooe not, they at 150'lbs now! Studs held! 9/16 studs and my owners manual clearly stated in about 4 areas 150ft lbs. had me step from like 80, the 120, then 150.
What is everyone else using??? Nirmal wheels are usually 90.

My tires are a different size with a max of 80 psi. I run 110-120 torqueing with a torque wrench, before, during and after a trip.

Just googled alum wheels trailer tires. 9/16" studs look like 140. My manual did say 140-150, and I actually used 140!

I'd roll over that CAT scale again, looks like your front axle is up off the road and your drive axle is seriously overloaded. The reading indicates you were not quite pulled forward enough so your front axle (whole truck) was still weighed by the center scale.

I was not parked on the scales correctly I figured out. Also, I have the 14k gvw option if that matters.
