Share your camping buddie(s)

Inspired from another post I didn't want to hijack

We got our Pitbull/Lab mix when he was about 5 months old. He was found in a taped up box next to a dumpster on a cold winter day by a construction worker. Tippy had seizures and was a trooper and we all were inseparable. He was a large (135 pound) dog but a gentle pup. One reason we bought our Premier 19 is it didn't have a console between the bed and the rest the camper so Tip wouldn't feel he was separated from us . . . Tip had developed bad hips and couldn't jump so we had to use a ramp for him to enter and exit our campers

After 12 years Tip left us and crossing the rainbow bridge and though he will always be with us in sprit, we have a new rescue to share our in the adventures, Bessie, another, but much smaller pit/lab mix

I think that how we treat animals is a great indication of our character. After losing a friend, you are up for another rescue pooch. Bless you!!!!

Here are Gentleman Gus and Turbotail Murphy at Poison Creek campground, Cascade Lake State Park, Idaho. Both of them crossed the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year.

We adopted Ollie in June and he was camping with us in the exact campsite two weeks later.

And no...he is NOT spoiled at all!

In 2009 we went coast to coast. This is Harry, he was a rescue and passed at 2 years old about 6 months after our trip. He LOVED to ride in autos

He also loved to ride on my shoulder around the house. We currently have 3 rescue cats and they aren't quite as enthusiastic as Harry was, but they do okay. If I can find a pic with all three I will post it.

Charlie is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell rescue. At 2 1/2, he's been our good buddy for two years. Believe it or not, he's even herded cattle out of my bro-in-law's yard. 12 pounds of good boy.

Both of the pics below were taken at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Texas.

This is Mayzie, a Boxer-Bull Terrier-Dachshund mix, according to her DNA test. She was rescued from a situation of severe neglect and spent the first two years of her life on a chain. She used to be terrified of even going for walks. Now she loves the great outdoors!

This is Ranger the Rat Terrier. He's also a rescue but lived with a loving family before he was surrendered due to tragic circumstances. He is the type of dog that's happy to go anywhere and do anything as long as he's with us.

We are empty nesters and. as such, this guy is definitely a member of the family. Ten year old male Yellow Lab. Weighs in at 102 Lbs. With all of the 'alluring' scents he encounters at camp, walking him is sometimes a challenge.
But, he loves to travel as long as he can be with us he is cool. Very docile and laid back - loves little kids.Click image for larger version

One-eyed dawg

This is Babbette, my one-eyed dawg. At six months, she got too playful with one of my cats and lost an eye. Don't know which cat did it, all 3 paid the price, declawed.. At the campground, she loves to walk from site to site, meeting new people.

Angus!

Angus is a great travelling partner! Always calm and quiet - almost never barks and goes to sleep when left alone while we are out. No separation anxiety, as he knows where home is!!

My camping Buddy

This is Parker my surrogate dog/camping buddy, he actually belongs to our friends and was a rescue from Alabama brought up to New York. I get to feed him treats, get him all riled up with wrestling, and then give him back. They got lucky because he is such a great dog, we all are very lucky to have him.

This Haley she is a rescue min pin chihuahua mix. She loves going in the car, camping and golf cart rides. She seldom barks and if she does you better go see because something is wrong.
