Can anyone give me some info, on water filters they used would like to know if they work as adv.

+1 to these. They work great and last a long time. All I’ve ever used for any of our rigs. My last two trailers have been brand new and once I get the initial lines cleaned out I actually drink from the faucet now because these work so well haha.

How long do these filters really last with limited use? After our last trip I put the filter in the garage refrigerator based on advice. One year maximum?

We use the 2.5 gallon water jugs, you can buy at most grocery stores, for cooking, drinking, etc... the stuff in the tank and what come through the hose is for flushing and washing, so no filter necessary for us.

I use a new one each season just as a matter of course. I use the old one on the hose I use to wash the Cougar, Ram, and cars. Filtered water for car washing has got to be better...right?

Yep, that's what we used also. The label says they a 3 month replacement. They're cheap enough so at the end of last year's three month trip, I threw it away and plan to get a new one this year. We didn't have any issues with it and the water tasted OK. I guess the fact that we weren't aware of the water tells the story.

I use a sediment only filter when filling the tanks. I want whatever chlorine is in the water to be in my tanks and lines. I installed the camco filters under my sinks on the cold side. My Toyhauler had 105g of fresh water so used it for drinking also.
Now with a "little" tank, we just use the 2.5g jugs and leave the tank water for washing/flushing as B-O-B'03 states above.
I now use the Camco filters for my brewing water instead

I had 2 of the drop-in filter type canisters, 1st connected the the hose on the inlet side of a water softener with a sediment cartridge, the 2nd connected to the softener outlet then to the rv with a charcoal cartridge, we drank from the faucet, made crystal clear ice cubes, made coffee/tea & filled our fw tank through this setup all across the country
with no ill effects. I replaced the cartridges ($10-12 for a 2 pack at Walmart) once a year or sooner depending on area water quality.

We use a two stage canister system similar to travelin texans. Two nice features are [i] you can take the filters out to inspect the condition, and [ii] you can take the canisters apart to thoroughly dry out everything when the RV is not being used for a while. We buy the filters in 3-packs (2 sediment + 1 charcoal). The charcoal filter generally lasts long enough for 2 sediment filters. We usually replace a 3-pack once a year.

This was very easy to install, I just installed it behind the city water connection on my cougar. Water taste awesome and filters are easy to change.

I used to use the disposable ones. The I built my own system of a cartridge filter and a carbon filter. That work great together and the last me a year. Then just change the cartridges and I'm on the way again.

I used The Beech Lane system from Amazon.
I put 2 screws into the side of my camper and left them sticking out slightly so the bracket can hang right off the side of my rig. I use quick disconnect fittings on all of my connections so that when I’m done I can just plug them into each other and not have water running out in my storage compartments.

Same here. Camco filters worked as advertised / expected. One per season. Great when well water is only available. We bring bottled drinking water.

We use the Camco filter on hose and then put this one inline before going to RV. It works well. Two stage filter. I use a 5 micron and then a 0.5 micron filter.

Our first fifth wheel had a whole house filter, worked well. Now we use these Camco inline one's. We are full time for the winter period and use one each year, discard in the spring and start with a new one in the fall. They do the job well.

Whether or not you use a water filter is up to the individual. That decision should be based on where you camp and your faith in the quality of their water supply. IMO, it should not matter whether or not you drink the water. If you choose to use a filter, I strongly recommend you do some research about potential contaminants and what you want to protect your family from. I suggest you Google “Walkerton water tragedy”. Given that we are experiencing more severe weather these days (more rain, more flooding), its imperative that water well heads be protected from contamination. Based on the Walkerton tragedy, I’ve chosen to use a 0.5 micron water filter. The $22 filter I use doesn’t restrict water flow enough to be noticeable. I’ve found that that’s more dependant upon the quality of your water pump. I don’t full time so I only replace the filter once a year. To me its a very cheap investment to protect my family’s well being.
